Valdosta Speedway

I went to the NOPI event in Valdosta GA over the weekend and met two forum members, nopiguy and o1s. Great people and thanks to nopiguy for the invite up to that event.

Showed the car at the NOS tent with a few other cars. Almost everyone just walks past it because of the sleeper fashion statement it makes. Being parked next to a 1971 Black Skyline that will appear in Fast and Furious III didn't exactly put the spotlight on my car, but no complaints. It was worth buying a trailer to haul it up there, cough, cough. That sucked. Anyway, most of that crowd is geared towards bling, boom box and rice. Most have no clue to performance, it just has to be shiney.. hehe.

Nopiguy set me up to run my car in open session. I hadn't even thought about running it till he mentioned it to me. I was not totally prepared as I didn't go there to run the car. The map I had in the emanage was a detuned version with timing pulled and an afr of 10.5- 10.8 range. I didn't bring my laptop so I couldn't change it to the more desireable map.

I'm way disapointed in the ET as I thought I would be able to get it into the high 12's anyway. Didn't happen. The MPH was great and is indicitive of a mid 12 car. I ran 8 lbs boost, had shitty 60' times, and had nothing but wheel hop and spin in 1st and 2nd. The tires are stock with 25000 miles on them. I drove it like I was leaving a stop light at an intersection out of the hole. I just didn't want to hurt the drivetrain. My first RT was a .778, 2nd run a .691 and my third was a .503. I haven't been down the track in years and the car does not fly out of the hole.

I drove the car the same each pass and was very pleased with it's consistancy. It's consistant enough to win in the street class. I'd say it's not a good car to have to leave on the pro tree, it'd be hard to cut a good light.

Anyway, here are the time slips with a couple of other pics of motors I liked.

nice, you didn't lower the boost in the 1st and 2nd with the boost controller? I think you can get in the mid 12s if you can get everything right. Wonder what the track speed would be if you were at 10psi opposed to 8. Go back soon. lol

You should get some drags if you plan on running at the track. Plan on going back soon? Would like to see what this car is capable off. Great times though

Yeah his ET is close but look at my 60' time compared to his! If he had an identical 60' time he would have run in the 12.60 neighborhood!

Sweet trap speed by the way

Very impressive with what you were working with. Those POS Stock tires are probably what killed you.

Talk about consistency. That MPH is

Steve - what tire setup were you running to hit that 2.00 60'?

I really babied it out of the hole and didn't try to maximize the hole shot. I knew it would be useless on my stock tires and I didn't want to break anything driveline related. Another thing I'm working on is trying to get the car to see maximum boost by 3000-3500 rpm. The car as it is now does not see max boost till 5000-5500rpm. It's the boost controller and location of the boost solenoid in physical relation to the wastegate. There is lots of room for improvement in both et and mph.

You guys that have cut 2.0 short times, my hats off to you as it's not an easy car to work out of the hole.

Regardless though, I love driving this car no matter how slow it is off the line. It's more of a highway cruiser that punishes most performance cars it comes across, and best of all, no one expects to be shut down by Acura CLS.

Oh, and great vid by the way!

That's what I have on my 18"s... Over all, was it a good tire for you to drag on?

Yeah it was okay but the load rating was too low and thus I blew out two of them before I traded the car in.

Good tire, but they don't have a load rating high enough for our cars.
