V6 stangs and Camaro's

I was on the way home from school, and was waiting at a stop light i saw a earlier generation mustang 97 98 ish V6 charge up and stop next to me as i wait at the light he seems to be "reving" i just look over and laugh at him and cruise off while he burns rubber and peels away. Would i have had a chance against it? I'm usualy against racing around on the streets but i do it occasionally with accords and some civics they seem to be no problem.

I ran against a late 90s V6 Mustang in my buddy's 90 Supra Turbo (auto). Starting at around 60mph it was so easy its hardly worth mentioning.

I'm thinking your 3.0 should have no problems at all against the Ford V6s. The Chev's might be a little tougher but I'd guess you'd edge em out.

when you say late model...are you referring to the new style body? or the older model? the newer v6's can run mid 15's with manual...possibly even low 15's..you can use that as a reference

im not sure what the old mustangs run...but from what i hear the old mustang gt's are ridiculously slow for their engine size, so i'm sure the v6 model would be no problem

I dont think you need to worry about ANY pre-1999 V6 Mustang. V6 2G Ford Probes are MUCH more formidable.

Peace.

Really? I think the thread starter is a G1 CL I think. The G2 would take it no problem as I have done many times when you meet up with a retard that thinks that "Mustang" on the bumper means you can beat any import. I guess I am pretty ignorant about the 3.0 1st gen performance.

I know that the Probe was supposed to be thenext Mustang at one point but they were faster than the V6 Mustangs? Really? My Prelude whacked them pretty well and that was a 4-cyl.

Still, any pre-99 V6 Mustang would get walked on by the J30A1 powered 1G CL (aka 6G AV6). Come to think of it, any pre-99 V6 Mustang would get walked on by the F23A 1G CL.

I drove these things when I worked @ Hertz. They made the Probe GTs feel like rocket ships by comparison.

Before the 99 Mustang, the base model had NOOOOOO power to even speak of. The newer base Stangs (205hp) are a different story.

Peace.

an auto 1G CL 2.3, maybe close with the wicked 145 HP 94-8 v6 5 spd mustang, however a stick 2.3 should even take that one. Otherwise the stang was an embarressment until 99 in v6 guise.

The camaro from late 95, 96 up has 200 HP and with an auto my brother ran (firebird) 15.4@91 with cold air only, full option car with t tops, etc. My uncle's 96 firebird, roll up windows and all stripper car, with a stick ran 14.9@93 mph all stock. That's not all that bad, especially considering the mustang GTs of those years 96-8 weren't running that much better in stock form.
