V1 w/ hidden display....

Ordered my V1 with the hidden display today. After getting 3 tickets within the last 2 1/2 weeks and having a court date after 2 years of being clean, I got pissed and ordered the damn thing. Cost me around $454 (overnight shipping), but hey, I think its all worth it from what people have told me.

j/k. sorry. that's the first response that came into my head.

That's cool - let us know how well it works!

Got any pics of what the hidden display looks like installed?

Works great except for all the false alarms! The good part is the multiple bogey counter and the directional!

I like Shawn's instructions better. That's the way I did mine. Plus with the instructions above, what about the remote?

I leave mine in "L" mode instead of the default bogey mode. This mode seems to be much better for normal in-town commuting: I only get a few false alarms from automatic doors, and since I know where all of them are during my normal drive, they aren't much of a bother.

the V1 picks up almost everything it is extremely sensitve, which is good cuz its better to be safe then sorry, but all my friends turn the sensitivity down cuz it will go off like every couple seconds. i can wait to get like 400 so i can get it w/ the xtra display. i also like how they will pay ur speeding tickets.

I thought the $400+ bucks was "steep" too but the V-1 is worth it. (With 2 tickets you better get one seeing as though you can only work one off a year in traffic court.) I followed Shawn's instructions and mounted the hidden display on the column behind the steering wheel along with hard wiring it. I imagine there's a good place in your M-3 as well. You will really appreciate the V-1's bogey counter and directional arrows which really help clarify where the "bad guy' is.

Yeah they pay for the ticket, and it goes on your record as a moving violation. No thanks. I rather pay the money, and get supervison or traffic school and not have it on my record. In IL its 3 strikes you're out.

For the record, the V1 does not pay or reimburse the speeding ticket fines for V1 owner's speeding tickets. Maybe you got it confused with another competitor. That a fact for right now until somebody can prove otherwise.

BTW, just saying that they pay up is not factual. Let's not confuse prospective buyers.

V1 doesn't pay for you ticket. K40 pays for your ticket. Even that has some restrictions like something about you can't be going over 15mph over the limit and/or only one reimbursement a year.

Also, I just got a 'Improper Turn' ticket. Is that like a parking violation or is it considered in the same category as a 'Speeding' ticket?

I can't speek for IL, but in Califonia, it would be a "moving violation"... (not a parking ticket or equipment violation) -- and thus would add points unless someone went to traffic school (or beat it).

Congrats!!!

Please do think V1 is a cure4all. It's a GREAT addition to defensive driving.

You still need the olde school techniques and paying attention when driving.

So GOOD LUCK!!!

V1 since '93 and no tickets since '86.
