u noticed in the past couple issues of MT and C&D that the V1 adds attack the Passport back for being the "world's best?" i mean, this is like a no holds barred slaughtering of the Passport...Mike Valentine was brutal and i like it!!! maybe V1's sales are suffering b/c of the Passport's growing popularity.

Both are good. The only reason V1 is loosing market share, is beacuse something else is out with almost the same performance for like $200 cheaper. Yes the V1 is top dog, but the Passport 8500 is a close(closer then V1 would like) 2nd. The makers of the V1 know thier detector doesn't cost no where near $400 to make. They have been getting rich because nothing else was better, & made the consumer pay for it.

 

None of us know the margins on V1s and that Company certainly isn't "rich". V1 is losing market share? I'd like to see that information if you have it. I'll go check these ads.

 

I do not own a radar detector but was thinking about buying one. What ticks me off is how different "independent/unbiased" tests are. For instance, both http://www.radartest.com/DS4HEM.html and http://www.speedzones.com/ have the 8500 way ahead of V1 while car and driver have the exact opposite results. Someone is getting paid under the table!
