v1, questions

i got pulled over for a 84 in a 65 today but luckly the cop just gave me a verbal waring cause of my clean record, i spotted the cop a good 1500 feet before i passed him but i guess he still clocked me way before cause i was down to the limit when i passed him, how much of a warning would the v1 give me??

also, any one got any reccomendations on a laser and radar jammer, like something i can put in the grill of the car that blocks it....

thanks

db

radar and laser jammers are illegal. a good radar detector (escort or V1) will give you warning depending on road and environmental conditions.

For example, on my way back from Washington to California, my detector let off a warning for a cop 3/4 mi away (the SUV next to me HONKED and passed at me because I slowed down 95-70 in a fast lane... the cop got him 2 miles later, so I HONKED and waved back.). In the city, I'll be lucky to get 1000ft.

It depends on the type of gun he used to clock you and if some type of "instant on" was being used against you.

If he was just sitting there with the gun on and it was X, K or Ka you would have know several miles ahead of time; if it was flat, no interference... etc.

Now laser is an entirely different beast and one that is a bitch to defeat. Does Michigan use laser?

Regardless, a radar detector even a V1 won't protect you 100%. You still need the ol' "common sense".

The V1 has been very good at doing what is made to do for me. I notice that it's range of detection is very dependent on the "line of sight" ....in other words if the cop is just at the top of a very small hill and your'e approaching him it will give an 'decent' advanced warning but if your now going down a hill and he's at the bottom and there's no bends/other obstructions then...wow...it's really amazing. All radar systems work similar though. What makes the V1 standout above the rest is the REAR coverage and the directional arrows which you have to experience to really appreciate.

Darrin, Go see Specmo Sound and Speed on Woodward between 12 and 13 mile, east side, white building w/ red awnings. They can hook you up with the detector/jammer. Or call them at (248) 691-8842.

My V1 has saved my ass more times in the 3 weeks I've had it than I can count. Arrows are amazing and the range is surprising. On the Parkway I've gotten warnings more than a mile in advance.

Correct, most states haven't yet gotten around to outlawing the laser jammer device itself. In the meantime, in those states if you are caught jamming police equipment, be prepared to get charged with interfering with police equipment/operations...if they find out. You know, the same type of tickets the cops use to give out if you flash your lights to warning oncoming traffic.

Laser JAMMERS are illegal in these states:

Minnesota (Minnesota Statutes 2002, 169.14) California (Sec. 1, Ch 493.28150, effective January 1999) and Utah (C. 41-6-52.7, 1998)

The reason it's hard to regulate lasers is because it is currently regulated by the FDA, already a government entity, for medical purposes.

Radar jammers are ILLEGAL in all 50 U.S. states. Try driving by or on a military installation or government building with a radar jammer, that carries a felony charge and prison time.

Any radar or laser detector is illegal on or within federal and government property.
