can you guys please post pics of how you have your v1 mounted. I might be getting it soon but I'm thinking maybe it might be an obstruction in the windshield. and to those who have it is it an obstruction?

well i just ordered mine on monday so i'm expecting to get it today or tomorrow. i also got the concelead display unit. i plan on placing the main unit on the far right side of the windshield just under the dark tint that goes along the top. seems like that would be the most out-of-the-way spot and won't obstruct anything. i want it as 'invisible' as possible.
i'll put the concelead display unit up under the dash where the gauges are. someone else on the board has their's there and it looks great. off to the right so the only thing that gets covered up i beleive is the little green key light.

I'm sure it's even recommended on the valentine1.com website where to mount it.

I have mine mounted in the TOP LEFT CORNER, and it has been there for the last year and a half. No tickets yet! I like it there because I have been pulled over, nothing the V1 could help me out with, and when the cop leans in he can't see it at all in fact it is so out of the way that it really feels invisible. My logic is most of the time my car is on the left side of a median, right? and most of my cops come in the middle so, in that reegards I am centered, but really even my rear detection, which I thought would be totaliy useless given the mounting position, works flawlessly when passing a gunning cop, it doesn't loose a beat and my directional arrows switch from front to back right as I go by. I hope this helps, It is a great detector but also is figg'in huge, mounting I believe, can alieviate the ugly asthetics.

Mine is just below the rear view mirror.
To test.. once you have it where you want take your t.v remote out to your car. Leave your windows down so you can hear the V1. Stand back 10 feet or so and aim the remote torward your car. Start pushing buttons. You should hear the laser signal. If you don't you will need to move the detector.

It’s barely into the “dots” at all.
Actually I have to come up with a different mounting method.
When we had a stretch of ZERO degree weather the V1 suction cups let go and one day after work I found the unit sitting next to my shifter with the wire still attached.
It’s sitting in the glove box right now.

I have mine mounted right on the dash! I would put it high up near the rear-view mirror, but the power cord would be in my way since i dont have a hard-wire kit.
