The UPS Man Cometh

And he dropped off this:

Took roughly 12 weeks for this sucker to arrive as Comptech was all out of blowers. Even when they got them in it still took 3 weeks for them actually get it out.

Jason over at Velocity Resources was great over the past months keeping me informed on what was going on. From the outset he told me they were about 10 weeks out from filling S/C orders so I knew what I was getting into.

As of now though Comptech appears to have a surplus of blowers so the wait time should be greatly reduced.

Overall I’m completely ecstatic and can't wait to get this sucker in which will come on the 26th of this month.

Here's the rest of the stuff I’ve been stockpiling over the months starting in June:

UR 12v Crank Pulley:

A Pillar Gauge Mount:

Fuel Pressure:

Boost/Vac:

51r Battery:

Mugen Mods:

Tranny Cooler:

And then finally i have to decide which Pulley to go with:

The 26th can't get here soon enough.

j\k congrats Chap! I can't imagine how good that must've felt answering the door for that UPS guy. Better than christmas. You completed alot of mods in a short amount of time. This one should keep you busy for a while

btw did you ever get your tranny checked in the recall? hopefully it holds up.

Congrats!!! Nice pics - what a beautiful sight. It's been a long time coming too. Looks like you bought out the whole store. You must be stoked.

So when is all this hardware going on?

^^ No, dealer will do all the work Aug 26th 2004.

I still think you should make the trip to me and let me install it for less than half the cost the dealer wil charge...shit, it would be my 3rd time I installed ALL of those parts.

I think you should drive to let Smitty install the parts for the what he is charging and then drive as fast as you can back across PA.

Yeh, what you could save with Smitty could pay for any tickets you might get.

And whatever you do, do yourself a favor and get a dyno before and after the S/C install. It's well worth the extra $50-$75 per dyno session.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.

I was seriously considering going to Smitty for the install. In fact I can't think of too many reasons not to. If I was a bit closer to his location I'd probably be turning to him.

Anyone in closer proximity to him who's gonna have a S/C installed would be foolish to turn anywhere else. Unless a dealer requires it to be done by them to honor the warranty.

Also as far as the dyno goes I'm gonna try and get one in next week, pre install, if I have the time.

Definitely a smart idea.

And Mantis as long as i can get the 75 shot kit then i'll be glad to trade.

This is where I got mine:

Gaugepods.com

Also I went with 2 1/16" gauges. Make sure you have an idea as to which size your gonna go with before you order.

I heard FigDJ's S/C'd CL-S take off before, but it was in the dead of winter and then in April. I haven't had the chance to sit in one yet. I wonder how the exhaust note changing with S/C. I know with my CT axlebacks, I definitely heard felt the deepness of the note.

If i might recommend something that will save you lots of aggravation in the future... Get the HBP before the install. Let me tell you why, after my SC was installed, i was lovin the car more than i ever thought, but after a week or so, I wanted more more more boost. As scalbert said, he can change the HBP on the alternator without removing the whole SC but for those of us who don't have access to an air wrench to remove the bolt that holds the pulley to the alternator, you'd be F***ed. You must trust me on this and go with the HBP before you have the install done. It will save you loads of money and you'll really enjoy your car.

Everyone has there own taste's but for me i went with Wrinkle Paint on the main body of the blower in black. I've seen some who have left the stock paint that came with the blower and others who have it painted. Go with Wrinkle Paint. you can find it at speed shops made by VHT

good luck!
