upgrading syncros?

At 68,000 miles now, feeling that the syncros are on their way out. Has anyone ever upgraded the syncros instead of just replacing them with stock again? I know that there are a lot of similarities between the CL and other acuras, and I know there are aftermarket upgrades available for other models, would any of them fit? Thanks

At 68K miles your trans should be fine. If you think syncro's are going it is either a defect, or crap shifting.

The 6MT is strong enough.

well.....

I bought the car used, have no way of knowing exactly how the last driver drove it. Maybe they are going, maybe not. But my question is still the same, are there any options for upgrading the syncros in the aftermarket? Has anyone done this?

I don't know about aftermarket, but there have been a couple of people (like one or two, so it's VERY rare) who have had the syncros replaced:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=syncros

Doing a search for syncros will turn up 55 threads (syncro* turns up 103)... most prior to 2007, so it's not something that has the demand for an aftermarket supplier to be interested in... Why would you make stuff that only 2 people would buy...

Just get factory replacements (if necessary).

Thanks Green Monster, sometimes a member's memory is more powerful than the search engine. Weird that nobody has upgraded the syncros, I know it's common on other cars, maybe our trannys are just more robust coupled with lack of power add mods.

No it's because Acura didn't make enough of them. No after market is created with limited production runs of cars.

Although you may want to look at accord parts since the trans is similar. Accord parts me be adaptable.

Also try replacing/flushing out the old manual transmission fluid and going with either the reforumlated Acura/Honda manual transmission fluid or GM Synchromesh.

I had a notchiness in my stick... HA!!

That was crazy when I bought the car. Did what I mentioned above and everything has been butter for the past 20K miles. Oh... I use the reforumlated Acura/Honda fluid. Available at any dealer near you.
