Uncomfortable seat

Uncomfortable seat
I just bought a satin silver (anthracite?) '03 NAVI CL-S w/ 46k miles, certified. The car is in immaculate shape and drives like a dream. But the driver seat feels uncomfortable no matter how I adjust it. The lumbar support feels hard even when it's released and the bottom cushion also feels hard. I plan to take it to an upholstery shop to see if the can stuff or reshape the foam. Has anyone experienced this problem?

My seats are pretty comfortable too, maybe your previous car was super padded!
As far as color, either you have a Silver or you have Anthracite, 2 totally diff colors.
Silver is silver, anthracite is a very dark gray, see my sig.
Congrats anyway, did you get the 5 speed or the rarer 6 speed?

When I first bought my car and actually drove it more than just a test drive, i thought the seats were uncorfortable and I found myself adjusting to get into the right position constantly. After a month of adjusting an anguish of hating the seats I finally got used to them. Now (18 months since I have bought the car) I'm in LOVE with the seats. I have sat in a lot of cars (I work at a dealer) and the CL seats are pretty damn good.

If you never had seats before that have the big bolsters in the back like the CL does you will need to get used to them. I didn't like them at first & got used to them. The bottoms could use more foam I think, but are still ok. Seats always need to be broken in from what you had before.

I thought my seats were pretty good until I sat in my neighbors 05 TL. MAN those are COMFORTABLE. I think the foam density in the seat bottom is a little firm in the CL-S but they are "sport" seats so there you go.

Mine aren't that comfortable. I can't ever find something that's comfortable enough. Long drives aren't that enjoyable from the seat. May be I should get more foam put in?

I have to agree with those that have said they love their seats. I have a '97 max also and before that a 98 corolla so, in my experience, these are the most comfortable seats i have driven in. Also whenever i have a passenger for a long trip they are always amazed at the level of comfort. I think that you'll get used to them and after some time will develope the affinity that most uf us have for our seats.

S type vs. non S type Seats
The S type CL seats are different than the non-S type CL. When you say you love your seats, please clarify if you have an S type. I believe the non-S type seats are more comfortable. But, of course, that's just my opinion.

I love my type S seats... and the heat is an added bonus that my fiancee just can't live without either.
Just curious, for those of you who find the seats uncomfortable, how tall and heavy are you?
I'm only about 5'-8" and 150lbs, and the seats fit me just perfectly.

mines a type-S and I'm about 5'11 @ 150lbs. Again.... LOVE 'EM!
On another note, they only thing i've sat in more comfortable was a Jag I sat in at the last Denver Auto Show. Now, THAT THING was plush! When I got in it, I sank into the seat. I was hoping I could get someone to bring me a beer so I could just sit there and relax for awhile! It was more comfortable than the Bentley I sat in.

i though the only difference in the seats was the leather. The type s seats are perforated while the non type s seats are not. anyways, i love my seats, and everyone that rides in my car always says the seats are ...this comes from mercedes, cadillac, and bmw owners alike.
and those new TL seats are great!

Ok...I'm about to use a whole lot of non-technical terms...
On the back of the seat there is the ...let's call it a "wing" on either side that supports your torso and keeps you from flying out of the seat in hard turns....does anyone have a condition where right "wing" feels wider or bent out more than on the left? I'm 5'11" and about 220lbs. The seat supports me fine, but the en-even-ness of it is a little annoying...perhaps my car was previsouly owned by a fatso. I test drove another CL type-S where the seat was so bad that was part of why I didn't go with that car. Is this common? I see a lot of people here who "love the seats" so I guess maybe my car (or me) is special.

Well, it's been two weeks since I got the car and I still can't get used to the seat. I've tried everything, from a small lumbar microbaloon pillow to a memory foam seat cover and nothing works. I don't know what it is but the seat actually hurts my back. I am down to two choices: sell the car or replace the seats. A pair of seats in good condition from a totaled non S type CL cost about $700 but I am not sure if they are a direct replacement. Does anyone know? I've tried a couple of non S type seats and like them a whole lot better. I hope the seats will fit because I'd like to keep the car. I love the way it drives.

i too however, love my type S seats. They hold me in in the corners, and they cushion the tush. In fact, I just slept in the backseat this past friday night; it was very comfortable indeed.

The only things about the seats that I don't like are that the upper end of the back rest hits me right below the shoulder blades and the seats don't lower enough.

I'm very frustrated with the seats in my 01' CL non S. I'm 6' 1", 195 lbs. For me, it feels like the bolsters on the side are too narrow and I can't sit directly in between them, it's either I'm leaning to one side or the other. No matter how I adjust the seat, it feels like it still hurts my lower back. I just got back from a 3 hour drive and it was tough. I wish I could just find a good spot! Any advice?
