Well, since I have been going to the track, I have pretty much avoided all stop light races. However, I was feeling a little feisty when a debadged Acura TL, I assume TLS was driving real agreesively down Wilshire. I missed my turn, but kept going with him in the hopes of catching a light. Well, after a few miles, we eventually did, except there was some sort of BMW in between us. I knew it was on, so I hit perf shift and trac off. I brake torqued it up to around 1800(too high). When the light went, I promptly removed about 2000 miles of rubber from the tires. The wheel was very difficult to manage. My worst launch ever!!!! When I got traction I immediately pulled a car on him, then by the top of first probably a car and a half. Then took second up to around 75 and shut down. I was probably 3 cars ahead.

The guy then cut over to the middle lane, rolled down the window, and with a big ole grin kept pointing at my car and saying that thing is fast, that thing is fast. He wouldn't even let me ask him about his car, all he kept saying was that thing is fast!!!So I still don't know for sure if it was a TL-P or TL-S. The way he kept up, I would think it was an S. Very nice guy, we both waved and drove off.

Those cars look very sweet when they are debadged. It was a white one, very clean. Was this anyone here? For a while I thought it might have been a TSX, but then I looked up the pictures on the net, and I'm pretty sure it was a TL.

LOL, are you Asian? This guy was probably Korean, but could have been Chinease. Since it was near or even in Koreatown, I think he was Korean.

I'd be happy to race you. I might be going up to LACR tomorrow night from around 5:30-8:30. I ran 14.8 up there, thats about a 14.3 down here, with a 2.25 60'. But my headers are going on today, so I think I may be able to get down to a 14.5-6 up there(if I get traction), or a 14.0 corrected. What do you run in the 1/4??

Well, I'll be running down Wilshire around 5:15, so if you see a blue Regal with a hint of blower whine, thats me. Have you run your car up at LACR? There was a 240 with the DET running 14.4s. Pretty darn impressive considering the altitude!!!

Next time I go to LACR I'll post here again, and see if some of you can make it. I love racing, even if I lose.

Whats the corrected 1/4 time if that SR20DET ran a 14.4 at LACR?

Need to slap on my 300zx brake kit and i'll be all set to go to LACR...

 

I'll be heading east, but I had my headers installed today, and I am having some problems, so no racing for me until I get the problem resolved. I think it is false knock, but I need to figure it out first. I hope its not tranny!!! The feeling is too close to tranny shudder to ignore.

As for the 240, a 14.4 corrects to a 13.94. I don't know what his mph was, but I remember I thought he was pretty slow until he hit the 1/8th mile and just took off, so his mph was probably pretty high. Just the opposite of my car. I get my ET in the 1st 1/8th, then the blown pushrod motor kind of falls on its face. I know guys running 13s without hitting 100mph!!!

I hardly ever give in to the stop light urge, I prefer the track.

LACR is an NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile track out in Palmdale. Its at around 2700 ft elevation, so times suffer a little(around .5 sec for our speed cars.) You can check it out at www.lacr.net. I try to go at least once a month, just to get the speed fix. It is good, cheap, and a safe way to race. They have Weds and Friday grudge racing. And its only $15!!!

I'll post before I go each time so if any of you want to hook up, and try your hand at beating my 3500lb Regal. Ohhh, I got the headers installed, and my misfire taken car of(bad wire), so I am hoping to run a mid 14 up there, so I can boast a 13sec car at sea level.

My GTPs buddies went Friday, and there were a few running mid13s!!! Ouch. They either have a Cam or intercooler, so they are considered heavily modded. I am still considered moderately modded(all bolt ons).
