wanted to mess around with the shift knob a little bit and i was wondering if you can remove the clear rubbery type thing in front of the S symbol on the shifter. have a little idea, but i cant do it until i get that piece off.

i have an auto as well. ok, we all have a shift knob right? for the type-s owners, on the top of the shift knob should say type s with a clear rubbery piece over it. i want to get to that type s symbol under the rubbery piece, how do i get to it?

I think the "Type S" is actually printed on the back of the clear plastic.

Pop it out and see.

have u done it before ant? i mean does the type S come out too or is it glued in there or held on there by something. i dont want to go tearing away at something i dont know about.

 

never done it before but I replaced a shift know like two years ago cause it fell off...just don't remember if the S was part of the plastic or not...dude just go to a sticker shop and have them make you an S that size...hope I helped

It's most likely moulded directly into the entire piece of plastic.

shit happens, i guess this thread should be deleted seeing as though i found my answer, but i dont have access to.

 

The emblem on the top of the auto shift knob is most likely an epoxy dome making the logo part of that "clear rubbery" part. I'm not 100% but I think thats how it is.

 

i like that s on stick ...why would you take it out? it matches so well on my red cl... LOVE IT!!!!!!!
