Type S owners please help

Does your car make a humming noise (twice) when you put it in gear at about 5mph? I just took my car in and they said it was the VSA resetting and that it is normal.

I am going to pick up my car and want to know if this is bullshit or not.

Normal, ABS check.

Actually a lot of cars seem to do this also. my buddy asked me the same question about his G35 sedan.

ABS & SRS 'activate' at 4MPH and 12MPH. I can hear both of mine activate when I slowly pull out of my driveway in the very quiet early morning, radio off.

It's in Chod's FAQ. http://www.geocities.com/gamesmgr/chod/acura/#Noise7

Got it too, like Chaptorial, mine usually does it before I have completed backing out of the driveway.

In the Helms manual under ABS/General Troubleshooting Information/Pump Motor it says: "The ABS control unit checks the pump operation during initial diagnosis when the vehicle is started. You may hear the motor operate at this time, but it is normal."

Mine usually does it when I'm backing out of the garage.

You should hear it twice. The first one is the ABS doing a self-diagnostic. Then the second one is the VSA, again diagnosing itself that make sure the unit is working properly.
