type s with the newer mustang gt

I was on my way home from the mall with my girlfriend on an empty tank of gas. My gas guage light had been on for awhile. Anyways, Im coming up to a red light , and I see this mustang gt in the fastlane, so i switch into the slow lane and pull up next to him. He doesnt look over at all, so i reeved up my engine in neutral. He still nevered responded, so i just said screw it. I was almost out of gas anyways. So i just turned and started talking to my girlfriend. All sudden i hear him rev up his mustang and go, i look and he is taking off. I was like what, so i gunned it. All i see, is him hit second gear and that rear end go sideways. So then i take off he about 2-3 car lengths ahead of me. Then all a sudden i hear him grind third bad. That right there put me in the lead. I was like man that was a very fast mustang. When we finally caught up to traffic ahead of us, i slow down and i re-look at the badge, on the opposite side of the trunk it had BULLET. I was like that explains it. Lastly, i roll down my window and say your shit tight, and the guy just gives me a dirty disgusted look. I was like what ever man, dont get made at because you cant shift gears, and my shit is all stock. Anways, im sure he would of won no matter what, but i sure like to redo that race.

Bullitt has only 5 horsepower over a standard GT, at 265 hp. Bullitt is not that big of a deal.

A 99-04 GT will still beat most I/H 5AT's as long as its a 5 speed.

Damn that sucks, Cause I've heard stories of CL's beating a G35 w/ Intake and Headers...

I thought the G35 could beat a GT...I guess not?

You cant base it off of what someone says on a msg board, especially a kill on the street.

Here is some generally accepted times for the cars you mentioned:

Stock CL-S auto - 14.9 @ 94mph
CL-S auto w/CAI & headers - 14.2 @ 98mph
G35C 6 speed stock - 14.1 @ 100mph
99-04 Mustang GT 5 speed stock - 14.2 @ 98mph

As you can see the modded CL-S & stock G35 & Stang are very close. Some examples will be a little quicker, some will be a little slower. But those numbers are very close to what the vast majority of people run.

From a roll, especially on the highway, a stock CL-S may be able to keep up with a 5 speed stang, and definitely should hold its own with a stock automatic 99+.

I always thought the bullet had more hp, but i guess it has 275hp and 305lbs of torque. I could tell he had mods done. Not to mention this wasnt a straight up race, and i was on empty in a stock car. Anyways, that Mustang BULLIT took off fast. My Friend has a Mustang GT and it was not even close to being as fast as this BULLET.

Indeed, they are no joke. A guy had an automatic one at the track - stock - and couldn't manage to get into the 13's. The manual is a different car I've heard.

Most accurate mustang posting to date... I witnessed a g35 go exactly 14.1 -- twice... Of course at the track most stangs are modded but they do generally run in that range (13.8-14.5) eeekk...

Good post...

Empty helps you alot -- considering the wieght per gallon of gas is ~7lbs...

joe,
u gotta remember prolly only less than 20-25% of stock gt's can run in the 14.2 range, most of em are between 14.4-14.6

Yea i know having to much gas weighs you down, but if you have too little then its harder for your fuel pump to grab gas.

Well, I havent really seen too many stock mustang's at the track. Most have at least gears/exhaust, which easily put the 99+'s in the 13's. Like I said before, my dad's bone stock 00 GT 5 speed would run 14.2-14.3 @ 98mph every time down. That was with crappy 2.2 60's also. At a decent track with a 2.0 60' (which has been done numerous times on stock tires) 13.9 is definitely possible.

If someone runs a mid 14 in a 5 speed 99+ GT than they need to learn how to drive, or go to a better prepped track. The auto's run mid 14's with a decent 60'.

As for the Mach 1, the automatic I believe is actually rated lower in tq, and the 5 speed's are underrated at 305hp. They make closer to 320hp at the crank (they dyno ~ 270rwhp)

your right, not to many stock gt's at the track, but i have witnessed 14.4-even as bad as a 15.2

1 more thing, i would say that less that 15% of bolt on auto cl-s can go 14.2, def not an avg time
