Twinned Vehicles?
Twinned Vehicles?
Cool article by Edmunds. Note how the Acura-CL/TL and Accord are NOT on their list.

that's 'cuz the tl/cl and accord aren't really twinned, just built on the same platform which people have a difficult time comprehending. (tl and accord even have different wheelbases).
same reason why a6/a4 and passat aren't twinned.
same reason why camry and rx300 aren't twinned.
but the camry/es300 are because they are basically the same car with different body panels and maybe a different component here and there (that's why the engine in the es300 makes more hp than the camry, even though it's hte exact same engine).
the maxima/i35 are even closer than that, sharing not only the same engine but also the same tranny.
i think the thing that confuses people is the % of components that are the same. the es300 may use a higher % of the different components, but the major things that make the car what it is is basically the same.
it's especially pretty funny to hear nissan/infiniti fanatics say that the tl is just an accord with luxury tacked on while the i35 is essentially a "different" car than the maxima. could they be anymore wrong? espeically considering the only non-twinned car they have is the q45 (qx4=pathfinder, g20=sentra, i35=maxima).
tl/cl = same platform as accord, but non-twinned.
mdx = same platform as odysey, non-twinned.
rl = uh...
rsx = same platform as civic, non-twinned.
