If you don't mind and at your convenience, what method of shipping are you using and where abouts in the ballpark is the cost for shipping that big chuck of S/C?

Good luck!
I plan on putting the blower in when I get it back out and not taking it out for a VERY long time, lol. As far as shipping, I'll be sending it as one unit ( not disassembled) using UPS ground. Gonna pack it up with expanding foam in a plastic bag. I think the cost should be about $100 there.

Yeah, I remember when I received the unit from comptech, that it was centered in a box surrounded by that expanding foam stuff to keep it secure.

I'm coming up on the 70K mile mark on mine, which IIRC (read it somewhere, probably here on Azine) is the point at which complete servicing is recommended. I have not, to this point, heard any unusual sound(s); but, that does not mean something is not lurking underneath.

i think civic meant for sombody else to be buying the damaged (current one) off of you for $1k, where you can go and buy an already rebuilt M62 for $750, and not have bearing issues

If I am interpreting RJ's post below correctly, the 'worn out bearing(s)' referred to is the one at the end of the 'driveshaft', (near the pulley). I believe this driveshaft was made exclusively for Comptech by Magnusson.

Now, even if that bearing could be purchased, as friesm2000 has stated, it would be prudent (IMHO and as RJ stated he was going to do) just to send the S/C unit and driveshaft to Magnusson for the complete service and evaluation. Therefore, killing two birds with one stone ending up with a totally 'remanufactured' M62 and driveshaft ready to supply another 70K of intoxicating whine.

A more efficient use of time and funds in the end.
This Magnusson service will be on my agenda soon as well.

Around 5500 rpms I would hear a raspy tingy sound, sorta plasticy crackling. I'm going to see about getting the blower remanufactured or get another one and selling this one to someone for cheap. Rebuilding it would only cost $350-$500, so that would be a great deal if I sold it for $1000. So now the blower has to come out and get sent to Cali or something. I'm sorta happy this is the case, and that the motor for the car is in good shape.

And whewre can this be purchased pray tell???

BTW, got the car and the blower, packaging it to ship out. I'm actually enjoying the N/A drivability of the car now. Because I know when the blower comes back, it'll be ready to drop in with a 2.5" exhaust and it'll get retuned for a good 310+ HP to the wheels compared with the current 221 hp or so.

IDK ask bald man (civic)

but anyways if you say 1k for a fully rebuilt one, you still be ahead, with a good one compared to one with a bad bearing

Heres an M62 with a "mini-rebuild":

http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/Calli...I_CHEVY_BMW_MG

One of the rebuilt units I saw on eBay is no longer there, but they were selling it for $700 plus shipping.

These units aren't expensive. If anything, the bulk of the CT price is for the accessories and R&D. Hell, M90s can be had for next to nothing (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...#ht_500wt_1182) and then the rebuild kit is another $200 at most.

Honestly, I don't trust that mini rebuild. I prefer the premium price and peace of mind. I'm literally going to just bolt in the rebuilt blower and maybe retune slightly if needed, then I'm off into the sunset.

no, the point he had, it would still be cheaper to buy that already rebuilt unit, and then even send it in to be premium rebuilt; then it would have been to buy your damaged M62 for $1k, then to send that in to be rebuilt also
so it would be like $1050 for the mini-rebuilt unit, with even sending it to Magnuson afterwards to be truly rebuilt
then it would have been to buy your unit from you for $1000, and still have a bad bearing, so another $400 for the rebuild for a total of $1400

Blower got here today, gonna install it and change out the throw out bearing, clutch and other wear and tear parts of the tranny.

I'm also going to disconnect the FIC and just continue on with the 6 lbs of boost running off the stock ECU and the ESM that came from Comptech. I'll just keep my eye on the Wideband O2 sensor.

BTW, shipping was only $35 there and $45 back.
