trunk springs

Isn't it possible for the dealer to tighten the trunk springs? mine seem weak and the trunk has knocked my head a few times. Dealer is saying it's fine. seems others have expirenced this and got it fixed.

searched and didn't get any hits.

Yes you can adjust the trunk springs to a tighter setting. I installed an aftermarket spoiler last Nov, and the stupid trunk kept hitting my head. I bought this tool that moves the trunk springs back one notch, and it has stayed up perfectly ever since.

The search doesn't look like it's going further back than Jan 03 so I can't find my thread. If you have a Helms manual it tells you how to do it.

Thanks!
Why would the dealer not want to do this for me? seems easy enough.

They probabaly can't charge you enough for it to make it worth the effort. Lazy bastards!!!

Where did you get the tool to move the trunk springs? Do you move them both or just the one further forward?

I got the tool from www.AHmotorsport.com, but I just checked their site and I guess they no longer exist (signs of the economy).

I sold the tool to Repo1234 so you might to give him a PM and see if he's willing to sell it to you.

Here's the instructions on how to use the tool: http://www.acura-tl.com/tltorsion.htm

how much are they charging you?

I bought the tool for $17.00 shipped. All it took was a little muscling and "pop" it went.

Try www.ahmotor.com They're still alive and kicking.
