true dual exhaust

anyone do a real dual exhaust and cut the j pipe off the back header and send two seperate pipes back before? i've always thought about doing it but it always occured to me if it might not make power. any input on this setup?

That sounds intresting. But I think they did it this way cause it already is making optimum power with the piping setup stock. Everyone says it is a high free flow setup anyway. Im curious to see what some of the people say about this. Im curious as well now about this.

^ i know the exhaust is pretty high flowing already, but i'm sure that the j pipe slows flow.maybe the j pipe is for more of an equal length header effect?

Since our J-series engines aren't optimized for a true dual exhaust, you'd probably lose back pressure resulting in a big loss in torque, as well as a considerable amout of HP. But if someone wanted to be the guinea pig, I'd be interested in the results.

might give you that huge 2 hp gain that aftermarket exhaust systems can give or do nothing or worse. how about a catless exhaust just weld a straight pipe in place of the cat? I know this wouldn't hold up in states with inspections but all the rest of us enviro-hostile people can try it.

you'd have to get narrower pipes or it would just be too much going out, not enough back pressure. you'd lose a world of tq.

ew H-pipe

X-Pipe > H-Pipe

that's a clean setup but it looks like 2.5" piping, damn.

yea true on the x-pipe, I didnt catch that. Clean, don't you think that there would just not be enough back pressure with 2x2.5" piping? Unless you're FI, I just see you peeing away your tq...

dual 2.5" is massive for even the 3.5 v6 N/A. absolutely unnecessary. i would just go with dual 2" and do 2.25" axleback to mate up some better mufflers.

if it give that good of back pressure with such a free flowing exhaust, the h-pipe could possibly be a design.
I dunno, I really like that set-up, as you can see I'm just concerned about losing my already not enough tq... where did you see this set-up, and I'm wondering how much it cost them?

the red circle just looks like resonators... and the arrows, thats flex pipe... where are the cats? I have to get emissions every year

With no cats, I bet that thing sounds like a beast.

he is running cats, look for the o2 sensor wires, their blue and grey, looks like standard cats like the accord/tl/rl. the blue honda oil filter is a dead giveaway too. ;]

I think most of us missed them because it's an odd exhaust set up. You would think with all that effort they went through making the H pipe they would've put on aftermarket headers and then relocated two cats further back, like where our CL's cat is located. From what I recall about having cats directly underneath the stock exhaust manifolds (had the same setup on my 04 Civic Si) it restricts power but is better for emissions.

it would be harder to eliminate those cats or relocate them. there are aftermarket options and the 3G TL has no problem with 300+whp on high flow cats in that location.

those are from an 03 Honda Accord 6speed. I know of the person who use to own this car. It sounds freaking amazing. Setup was mandrel bent and done very nicely. He was running tunabe exhaust. cost without the exhaust was about 750, but that was HIS price since he knew the guy who did it for him.

As for possibilities running this on a 2nd TL/CL, you run into problems with the o2 sensor. there are two o2 sensors. i believe before the cat and in the cat. But for sure, i know for a fact there are two sensors. and this your problem when you decide to go dual. With the 7gen accord, the o2 sensor are located in the header so they dont have the problem.

just eliminate the 2nd sensor, they make o2 spoofs.

I was just assuming that they weren't high-flows

this was a 6spd accord. the guy was running 250 to the wheels. thats coming from a car that has 240 at the crank stock. no offense to anyone but actually i thought the guy was kinda cheesy. he's on youtube.
