Truck crash damages Dodge concept

By Richard Truett and K.C. Crain
Automotive News / January 06, 2003

A semi-truck carrying a Dodge concept vehicle from the Los Angeles auto show to the Detroit auto show crashed Saturday, killing the driver and a passenger.

The accident in Vandalia, Ill., about 70 miles east of St. Louis, heavily damaged the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 high performance sport-wagon, which was scheduled to be shown today at the Detroit show. However, Chrysler officials said a backup version of the car would be ready if the show car is too heavily damaged.

The truck was operated by Reliable Carriers Inc. of Canton, Mich. The cause of the accident may have been a blown tire. No one from Reliable was available for comment Sunday.

That’s sad about the driver.
I've often wondered how many times this happens when transporting those RARE vehicles.

The timing couldn’t have been worse either being the day before the cars unveiling.

I feel for the driver and passenger, Dodge will go on, and so will the car.
