Triple Ice Box install - lots-o-pics

A few of the DFW crew got together to install 3 ice boxes today. RUF87's, InfernoTLS's, and DeezNutz'. The install when pretty smoothly except for those damn snap bolts on the splash guard. I'll let the owners post their reviews of the performance gains. The ice box had a nice growl to it, but it's definately not near as loud as the AEM. Here's some pics...

and it looks like Mantis was an impartial observer ... well, opinions/observations/findings/comments? getting tired of waiting for 'tease' (sorry, slyraskal) to follow up on his dyno thread.

He was definately not an just an observer. We all had a share in the install.

One observation was that Comptech didn't send enough screws. The lower half of the actual box is screwed to the car in 3 spots. One at the bottom and 2 on the right side, which screw into a triangular metal piece that screws to the body. With a CL there's no problem because of a screw that grounds some wires to the body, you use that same screw for the metal triangle piece. But in the TL there is no such screw, so you have to use one comptech provided and then you end up one short.

the piping from the filter to the throttle body does not look fluid as the piping of the AEM intake

looks like stock to me...

thanks.

Yeah, we were wondering about those wrinkled pieces, you'd think it would disrupt the air flow more than an aem would.

that is exactly what i was thinking. but who knows maybe its designed like that to improve airflow???? it just dosent look like the accord icebox at all. any pros want to help us out on this dilemma??

LOOKING GOOD guys.

I really don’t understand some of the design elements of the IceBox like the (2) flex hoses and the foam filter.
But if it works, it works.

Will a K&N cone filter fit the Ice Box tubing?
Just curious...

Damn, I missed out on the very cool group photos. That looks good. This was a whole lotta fun, especially Mantis using his Acura Roadside Assistance for the first time!!! I like the way it feels, but it is impossible to guess the performance by the seat of the pants method. We need to have another dyno day very soon. Thank you everyone for coming over, throwing the wrench on three cars, and making this thing happen. Even the trip to the Honda dealer for two more screws! Inferno

Gotta check the dynos, but if my Yoko's barking extra hard lunging into 2nd are any indication, it's an upgrade from my K&N drop-in.

Great pix guys. Thanks for all the help.

I think everybody would basically assume this to be the case, but the real question most of us have is how does it compare to the AEM as Chief just asked? Also, imo, there seem to be way too many metal clamps - even compared to stock.

Pic were great, thanks. Please give us a report on the performance gains. Also, just an observation. The Icebox looks like a short ram in a box with a pipe at the bottom.

I think the filter on my aem is K&N and I believe the ruber end of it is too small.

Nope, they all had a stock airbox with resonator. DeezNutz had a drop in K&N.
I didn't get a chance to drive one and compare it to my AEM, but I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference. My butt dyno isn't calibrated.

one other thing i forgot to mention... you do not have to remove the front bumper like the instructions say. All 3 were done with the bumper in place.

Thanks.

The initial report of the foam filter not looking all that sturdy is mildly concerning, however, if it remains contained within its box then I guess it shouldn't matter.
