Transmission service question...
I'm driving to NYC Wensday. I have 7500 Miles on my tranny. I am giving the car to the dealer for an oil change, & tire rotation. Only costing $9.99+tax(internet dealer special) I was thinking of getting a complete tranny flush/refill before I leave. Is it overboard? Maybe, but I feel better doing it. My question is does Acura have to put in a certin type of fluid? I know it's Honda ATF, but I had another car that specified ATF+4 fluid. You couldn't add any other or it wouldn't shift right. Is this the case with the CLS? I had a bad experierence at Chrysler when they put in ATF+3 instead of +4. I want to make sure the dealer does it right. Also if a complete flush is done, How much fluid should be used? I want to make sure they do a flush, & not a pan drop/fill.
Thanks
Thanks

7,500 miles is an overkill to change your tranny fluid. I changed mine at 15,000miles, and still think it was overkill.
Check the color, if the color is good and you dont have tranny problems I would not do it until 15K.

oil change and tire rotation just cost $9.99???that is a good price as i even bring my own mobil 1 full syn oil to the dealer and they still charge me for like $25 for labor and filter and tax.....
but i did my tranny fluid change at 14000 miles and that cost me about $55....
u are just too early to change the tranny oil

Yup, won't hurt and your dealer gets some $$$. ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
That said, it won't do anything to help the bearing issue, IMHO. I was thinking about changing mine at 30k which is coming up next week most likely, but I think I'll wait, get a new transmission put in before I move later this summer, and maybe a transmission cooler too so the new transmission will hold up better with heat and all that since our car puts out a lot of heat.
$50 towards a transmission cooler will probably do more good for tranny longevity than a $50 fluid flush, although as Wayne said, it can't hurt.
Just what I'm thinking of doing.
