I know Acura Cl-s and TL-s have a long standing prblems with transmissions. Does anyone know what the problem was and if the the new 03 CL-s has corrected the problem. I am assuming so because the 100,000 mile warranty is not offered on the 03 cl, but is on the 02. Has anyone had problems with the 03 Cl-S or TL. I can't beleive how many people are pissed off by Acura due to this. I am frightened to buy an Acura!!!!!

Yea....the trannys suck. Actually, I'm not an expert on it, but I hear that it's a bad engineering design, and causes the tranny to mess up between 2nd and 3rd gears. I know there's more to it, but I'd rather have a more experienced person answer it. BTW, has anyone ever thought of throwing a different tranny in their car, other than the factory CL tranny?

Actually, I have an 03, and WAS issued an extended 100k 7yr warranty....Dont know about u....i heard that the problem was corrected on the 03's that werent sent the extended warrantees....but who knows if this is true....maybe yours was lost in the mail...

 

I believe the new designed tranny started in cars made in February. Mine was made in March so I'm hoping they really got it fixed. There is much more information out there including the VIN number when they switched it. Check the other forums.

 

My vin isn't included in the "bad" tranny list. Build date was 12/02, and I was told the tranny being used now is based on the MDX tranny. I'm not sure I buy that MDX line, but no probs so far at 1,200 miles. Curious if it would be a drop in or a mod.

 

Not sure if I am doing this right. My son has 2003CLS with 56,000 miles.. I borrowed it and the trans started bucking. had it towed 148 miles to home.
How did you manage to extend the warranty. it already cost me enough on the towing.
