Tranny cooler and more...
Has anyone gone beyond adding a simple transmission cooler to adding an external transmission oil filter, a thermostatically controlled fan/cooler combination and/or a
temperature gauge inside the car to monitor oil temps?
My transmission guy said that a filter/cooler will not change the quality of the tranny but might delay the failure 'till you can get a handle on the problem and replace the unit before it completely goes south.

Yeah, it's been discussed before that the underlying problem with the auto isn't heat. I think anything other than a tranny cooler is just throwing your money away.

Agreed, it's the clutch packs that are at fault. But if you look at the relationship with the breakdown of auto transmission fluid when it becomes overheated - it breaks down really quickly - and so can't provide further lubrication when needed. I'm just trying to slow the process down - I know it can't be stopped.

Would be interested in those that have super- or turbocharged their rides with resultant strain on the 5 speed automatic trannys. I know that Comptech has one included with their supercharger.... was it effective?
