Traded S2K for CL-S
Traded S2K for CL-S
My first time on this chat. I just traded in my S2000 for a CL-S. I think I made a big mistake. I miss the S2000 it was more of a eye catcher than the CL-S. Don't get me wrong I like the CL-S, but I don't see it being fun so far. Maybe I have to wait to break in the motor. I ownly have a 300 miles so far.
The only reason I traded the S2K is because of the wife. I should of traded her in. In chicago the S2K is not a practical all year car. That is what swayed me over to the CL-S. You can only enjoy the car for 4 months out of the year. Plus spending 30K on a car that sits in the garage sux. I wish I lived out west.
So, can you guys convince me that the CL-S is fun to drive, please. I hope it is. What after market parts are out there besides what comptech has to offer? Will they void the warranty? Where can I buy a OEM spoiler for the CL-S online?
Thanks for listening.

well, you just went from a roadster to a coupe so there is a difference. The CLS is fun to drive because you get it all year round. The SS isn't the same as a manual but it's better than an auto. A little money on mods and you'll have a 294hp
luxo-sport coupe. I haven't done any modifications yet but I love the car as is. You already have a car that looks nice and performes well so enjoy. I'm sure you'll miss the s2000 but who wouldn't......give the CLS a chance. Once you break the car in you'll like it alot.

What part of Chicago are you from? I'm from Wheeling but have lived down here near Dallas for 15 years. I have 14k miles in less than 10 months of driving; my cl-s is driving like new. Still most on this board would kill to own a S2k along with their CL. You can find Acura parts for cheap at ahmotor.com and after market stuff at autocarparts.com. Do a search on this board about any mod, it's been detailed here somewhere.

Lenny, you definitely shit the bed on this one. How can you let a woman influence your buying decisions?
Also, The S2000 is a WAAAAAY better car. Our cars handle like boats on skateboard wheels.
TRADE IT BACK IN FOR THE S2000!

At least you should have waited until the 6-speed CL-S came out before you traded it in.. the 6-speed will be more fun to drive.. what are you willing to trade your wife for.. j/k.. well enjoy the car.. get some sways and new wheels/tires that will help in the handling dept.
Everything you want to know is covered in the FAQ from my sig. It covers known problems and fixes to mods and installation.
Enjoy! The CL-S is a fun car to drive. Plus you get a bit of luxury and comfort.
Welcome to the board too. Be careful. It can be habit forming.

My choice was between the S2000 and the TLS. But, common sense won the better of me. Every time I jump in my friends JDM ITR or NSX, I kinda get down... so fun, so sexy. But, I've learned that I only feel that 1% of the time. The other 99% of the time when I'm not feeling the need for a sports car, is the time I'm very happy I have my Relaxing, Stylish, Comfortable, Practical and Very Smart TLS.
You always want what you don't have.
But, here's the good. Your Type S can easily be sporty. Good set of wheels/tire, springs and sways makes it a very fun car. The S2000 will NEVER be luxury, no matter what you do to it. It will always be buzzy, loud and overall not a good way to move business partners, parents, pets or anthing bigger than an average person.
Trading back would mean you're stupid or just don't like money. You made this choice for a reason... and it probably was a very good reason.

Comptech springs/sways and better tires will do wonders for this car's handling. No, it will never be even close to the S2K in terms of handling, but I have a blast in my car with the Comptech springs/sways. As times passes, you'll forget about how good the S2K handles and a suspension upgraded CL-S might make up for a good part of the difference. Hate to see you trade back and get screwed. Just give it a little more time...

missmySTOOK,
I am in the same boat as you but I don't think that I will have too many regrets. I will miss the handling...I will miss the looks. But I will not miss the bussy engine, the cramped interior, the plastic window, the incredible stereo or the inability to carry anything bigger than duffle bag.
Come this winter when you are crusing with your heated seats turned to high and changing CDs without getting and actually driving around every corner instead of tip toeing (s2k tires are dangerous below 40 degrees) you will not miss it at all.
Personally, if honda comes out with a acura version of the S2k, I will be buying one again.

LOL !
WeLL, i'M Sure the S2K is fun to drive, but I think you hit the NAIL on the Head when you said CHICAGO. S2k Not practical year round. What other Car would give you AS much fun on a Year Round Basis than CL-S ? Not Many. You know have Performance, albet a different type than S2k, along with NICE Year around LUXURY !
A couple mods: Sways / Headers / CAI will Make you that much more proud of your car and the Performance factor your looking for.

Don't be a dumbass. You fucked up. Don't make another mistake by trading your CL-S back in for your old car. You will never hear the end of it from your boss, I mean your wife.</STRONG>
