As much as it pains me, I'm going to have to give up the CL. My wife and I had a baby girl a few months ago. As long as the kid was in an infant carrier, which just snaps into a base that you leave in the seat, we managed to get by. However, she just moved into a regular car seat. Let me tell you, it is a major pain in the rear getting a kid out of a rear-facing car seat in a 2 door. By the way, it is a nightmare trying to get a convertible car seat to even fit. The Britax models won't stay stable, so I had to put in an Evenflo Triumph 5, which seems to fit okay, but I'm not 100% comfortable with it.
So, I think I'm going to pick up a certified pre-owned Audi Allroad. I had an Audi before and I loved it. What do you think is a reasonable trade-in value for a 2001 CL Type-s with 60k? I'm hearing $11k.

Back in december, I was toying with the idea of trading my car for a new G35 coupe. The dealer offered me $11500 and after awhile I was able to get him to go up to $12500. My car is an 01 CLS with 38000 miles on it at the time. The trade in value is ridiculously low on our cars.

On the flip side Igot a really good deal when i bought the car, so I guess it's payback time with the low trade-in. I would try selling it myself, but there seems to be a glut of CLs out on the used market.

My car, 2001 CL-S, has 38,000 miles and looks and runs great. Actually starting to remind me more of the Legend Coupe now that it has gracefully aged a few years. If the tranny hold up I should get 10 years out of her. Getting 15,000 if your're extremely lucky, on a trade for another $30,000-$35,000 car with similiar features and same power doesn't make sense. Plus in a month I'll be wondering why I traded. Would like XM radio though which I may add on since I' becoming addicted to through my wife's SRX.

A co-worker at my wife's place of employment just purchased a RED 2001 CL-S that is so cherry its spooky - 28,000 miles young for $13,000. Talked the seller down due to a barely visible scratch on the rear bumper !?!
This taking place in Voorhees, NJ - found it in the local paper . . .

Audi and a Acura dealership both offered $11k. I've seen the book values, but just looking around at used car lots and in the paper, I don't think those numbers are realistic. I am thinking about maybe trying to sell it myself, but I just really don't have the time right now. Also, there seems to be a glut of them on the market here.

check Galves
Use www.galves.com it is supposed to give you the current prices at the auctions which I beleive the dealers can get for the cas if they do not want to handle the resale.

Well, I did it. I traded the CL-S in for a brand new Audi Allroad. I needed the space for our baby. Climbing in & out of the back seat to get our child in the car seat was a nightmare. I ended up getting $11.5 for it. I went through a friend that worked for Audi and he had to beat the wholesaler into that number. The car was clean except that it had been rear-ended not long after we first got it. The bumper and the side fenders had been painted. I'm really going to miss the CL. I wish we could have afforded to keep it as a third car.
