Trade?

My wife has an 07 FX35 and is in need of a more fuel effiecient car. Long story short, I am thinking about trading in my 03 CL-S and taking the FX35. I just hit 67k miles and just did a major tune up at 60k miles. I think this car will last a long time. I am kinda torn though....what would you guys do?

So you want to take the less fuel efficient car? Why not trade the FX35 and get a more get the more fuel efficient car?

The fx35 is the first time I ever seen keyless start.
I was amazed the first time I drove one.
Seat and steering wheel started moving to position automatically.

^ I think he just did that work to the CL.

The CL still has low mileage, it has tons of life left in it. Trade the FX in on something more fuel efficient. The FX is worth more.

Same here, wife has an FX35 and after a year, she wants to trade for a more fuel efficient car. Now she wants an Outback...we will see.

The CL is much more fuel efficient, I'd keep that. I find the FX is so stiff, not a very comfortable ride. Also the seats aren't nearly as comfortable as the CL. I thought I'd love the FX, but besides the engine and exhaust note, it has been a disappointment.

Man...I thought about getting rid of the FX...but my commute is short and only have to go into the office 3 days out of the week. So the FX is not going to be bad for me...Plus it has low miles and is a fun car too...With gas prices on the rise again though, usually its about $80 to fill up the FX. But for me it would last a while...my wife commutes a lot further than mine. The CL is an awesome car, but it would be tough to get rid of the FX too. I am still torn...haha!

How short is the commute? I still say sell the FX. What does it do (that you need it to), that the CL cant?

SUVs get are waste of money unless u need the extra space and or expect to get into a violent collision. and gas is going up to 1.50/liter here this summer so it's gonna be brutal filling up!.

i feel sorry for all those who have gasoline trucks .. damn

Totally agree with you on that one...SUV's are not for everyone. But we live near Chicago and weather is rough during the winters. An SUV is a must for my wife. In fact, we were in a severe accident a few yrs back in an 05 Honda Pilot...long story short, our whole front end was no longer there...seriously. The engine had dropped and it allowed room for the front end to push in and absorb the impact. It was a nearly a head on and amazingly, you can see the engineering of Honda at work...saved our lives! The crumple zones activated and everything worked as it should have. Car was totalled and all airbags deployed. I had my wife and two small children in the car. No injuries except for a few scrapes and bruises. Thank God for Honda's!

Im assuming you are still going to get an AWD vehicle for the wife. Since you drive so little, I still fail to see what you'd accomplish selling/trading the CL and keeping the FX.

lol so then u go buy an infinity?? ... had to bust ur chops there

I must agree tho if i had a wife (and or kid) they'd be driving around in something I know would win in the average collision, like an SUV, regardless of gas prices.

people are straight lunatics nowadays on the rd and anything is possible.

so u wanna get rid of the fx? or the CL? or are both up in the air??? cause i don't think anyone on this thread besides u knows for sure which one(s) u were referring to possibly getting rid of.

as for fuel efficient SUV's i don't think there are any, crossovers probably but who knows really.

Haha...yeah, my brother gave us some grief over getting the FX too. But I really fell in love with the engine and suspension on the FX. Some would say its a hard ride and it certainly is. But I actually like that. And the FX held up great with lots of safety features.

This all kinda came up over the weekend so some thought really needs to be put into it before deciding. But here is the idea....I get rid of the CL and take over the FX. My commute is roughly 20 min from my house and my wifes is almost an hour and a half. I am thinking of getting a new gen Accord for her. She would use it during the non-winter months and when the snow comes back, we would switch. Thats the idea.

The hardest part for us with the CL is the fact that we have to get in the back to buckle up the kids. We have small children that are not able to do this on their own. I love the CL but that is the biggest problem we have with the car. Also the money we spend on my wifes commute is hurting the bank account. So thats where the idea originated from.

If you get rid of the CL, let me know how much you want for it.

Thanks everyone for your input. Much appreciated. My wife and I decided to go ahead and put the CL up for sale...for now. Not even sure if I will have any interest in it. I put up a local add over the weekend and only got one response...haha. Wish me luck.

Sad indeed!! Why didn't you sell it to a member here? That rare gem deserved it!

Hey, what audio setup did you have below the nav? Looks clean. About time for me to ditch the stock cassette deck LOL.
