Track Video from Sunday

Here are the videos I promised. Beware, they are not dial-up friendly but came out pretty well. It took a couple of runs for my wife to get use to the camera. Also, you can hear the announcer...

The in car video which my wife rode with me. I ran a 14.5@97.
In Car

This is the 14.36@98.25 run:
Best Run

On this run with my father-in-law's SC430 I think it would have been the best run but on the 3rd to 4th shift I went into 2nd. Thankfully I never got fully out on the clutch and the revs only (only ) hit about 8k which I am sure this car can handle for a short moment. But this is the second time I have done this. I will be watching myself more closely now.

But anyway, after getting back on the clutch I went to fifth, which this was at about the 1000 foot mark, and coasted the rest of the way and still ended up with a 14.65...
Bad Shift

My first recorded run with Rick in his GS400. This was one of the first runs my wife recorded and she was figuring out the zoom on the camera:
CLS6 vs GS400 Run 1

Second recorded run with Rick, this one turn out better but he sure got the jump on me but I was able to run him down:
CLS6 vs GS400 Run 2

Here I ran against my mother-in-law but this was my last run of the day. I was way low on gas and when i went to the 2 - 3 shift the car surged and died. I assume it was due to air being picked up due to the sloshing of what little fuel was left. So I coasted the rest of the way which she caught me by the end:

She is about fifty but you would never guess that. Most people think she is late thirties if not younger. She is a tiny woman and looks like a little girl driving the car...

Actually they are not a slouch by any means. He would take me when my '01 CL-S was stock and I would edge ahead with mods. The stock 6-Speed was slightly quicker but now with mods I can certainly pull...

wow you'll be hitting 13's EASY. You just blew past both cars.

Better tires and cooler temps= 13.7

I think you'll hit 13.9's with cooler temps.

iS THE 400 MODDED?
is your friend a good driver?
his 14.89 may prove that an auto cl-s stock or litely modded can hang or beat it. what was his other time, could not see it

thanks

Rick or DrRick on this forum can answer on his own but he is the owner of that beautiful GS4. He has an intake and exhaust on the car with plans for more down the road.

He could drive it just fine as witness by getting a better launch than me. On that day I doubt a stock auto CL-S would have been able to break into the 14's.

I beleive the first run he netted a 14.6 to my 14.4.

I love the southern sound and to me, what was on the video is nothing. I was born in St. Charles, IL but lived in Boston and Indianapolis excluding GA. But have been in this area most of my life, since ten.

If you really want a southern accent you should come hang out with a few friends. They will certainly provide an entertaining slow southern drawl…

Thanks, and yes Rick is a cool guy. Us mid to south east guys should organize something. Rockingham would be a good medium location and would allow a diverse group to meet...

Plus, we need to get you some competition!!!

It's hard for NOVA and north to meet with you guys because the distances are much greater since NC, SC, and GA are such tall states compared to MD, DE, NJ, etc.

Raleigh is about six hours from Atlanta and about the same from Baltimore if driving at my rate. I feel it would be interesting to have an East Coast meet in this area as it would accomidate others from various regions within reach.

the 14.89 was by far my worst time. the other seven runs ranged from a .61 to a .78. still a ways off of what i thought i would run. nah scratch that. i figured i could run a .50, i just never thought that he would run in the .4s :o oh well, i got some tricks left

if you guys want to have some serious fun and throw a curve or two (every pun intended) into the mix, you should head up to deals gap, tn. about 20 of us CL members went up there last month and it was the most fun i have ever had with my car. there is nothing like accelerating out of a nicely cambered right hander, kissing the rev-limiter, hitting your brakes to get ready for the lefty, and feeling the brake pedal go to the floor with no significant loss of speed:o seriously though, the place is world renowned for that 11 mile stretch........318 turns here is the write-up and a link to some of the pics. be afraid, be very afraid.....

Nice times. Especially the trap speeds. I'm honestly very surprised you pulled out on the GS4 like that. I've seen GS4s trapping in the same region as you stock, 97-99 mph. Good runs.

Thanks, I was also surprised as was Rick. It felt great once under speed, I just need to find a way to be able to launch at a higher RPM. Anything over about 1k lit it up causing me to need to basically bog the launch and then pick up speed. You can see this in the videos how it isn't until about 4k revs that I start pulling. I would love to be able to launch at about 2k - 2.5k with a little spin but catching soon. Having a short time of about 2.1 would have put me close to 13's.

But for now I need to track down some intermitant DTCs which are all random and the codes haven't repeated.
