Track Day: Times Inside

Okay me and derelict (Kevin) met up at Capital Raceway tonight for a few runs.

My times are listed below. My mods are in my profile.

The funniest thing happened while we were at the track. I saw a sweet Yellow 2004 S2000 roll up and I notice the driver looked familiar. I get closer and I realize it is one of my service advisors from my dealership (Tischer Acura). My first thought was oh shit what is he gonna think. Then I realize he's cool as shit and go up and say hi. Okay me and derelict (Kevin) met up at Capital Raceway tonight for a few runs.

Oh and then the hood of the S2000 was popped, Comptech supercharger under there too! Awesome looking car.

How many other people have gone out drag racing with their dealer service managers!?!?!

Also he asked if any company was producing a chip for the CL-S because he hadn't heard. I told him Uni-Chip was developing one but I didn't know if I was going to get one (totally lying )

He told me to get it! I wouldn't have any warranty issues with them if I had the chip installed. Track times are listed below. The best times/MPH are bold and in red:

68-70 degrees!

54% humidity too.

I'm hoping if it was 45-50 degrees with around 25% humidity i'd be at 14.0. Gring on the Uni-Chip

I'm gonna stay away from the Pulleys... I want to keep this car as long as possible w/o any engine problems.

My first 4 runs were pretty close together. No more than 10-15 mins between them. The last 4 were more spread out. Someone broke down and spilled oil across the entire track and it took them 2 hours to clean it up

How about that .503 reaction time. I couldn't believe I pulled that off!

I think my springs helped my 60's. Nothing else really changed that would have affected them. But I hardly broke the tires loose on my launches (2k rpm) unless I just dropped it to the floor. I did that once and ran a 2.228 60'

Well considering I ran 14.5 with only intake, I was hoping for at least 1 14.1 sometime last night. But it was hot compared to when I was at the track earlier this year (40-50 degrees) Humidity didn't help much either. Hopefully i'll get a cool dry night sometime soon.

I think my springs helped my 60's ALOT! I wasn't doing anything different and I had no problem getting 2.1s

Not trying to bring back an old thread but I just noticed something.

After installing Headers and Exhaust my trap speeds have only increased 2 MPH. My ET's have dropped 3 tenths.

Does this sound about right? I thought I'd pick up a lil more.

I'm having trouble getting good 60' times and last time I went my best was a 2.6. I had 38 psi on front and rear tires. Did you lower your tire pressure? Also, any other advice would be appreciated!

Holy PSI Batman!

I lower the front to 23 PSI and raise the rear to around 40 PSI.

For everyday driving I run a 34 PSI all around.

23 psi up front
40 psi out back

Spin the tires at the start... I roll through the water too.

Torque brake to 2000 RPM... then just feel it out from there. If you launch too hard you'll get nasty wheel hop. I'm WOT within a second of starting... good luck!

BTW: I'll be wearing a helmet in 4 weeks

Going through the water with street tires is a non-no. All your gonna do is get water in the treads unless you do a monster burnout. Plus the guy behind you will get screwed because you'll be dripping water all the way up to the line. Just do a quick burnout after going around the water to clean the tires off.

And Darrin you're gonna need at least 100mph to run 13's, easpecially at a track like Milan.

I've actually never done better than a 2.2 without going through the water. I've experimented with going around it. Doesn't give me the results...

I'm just saying in general. What kind of tires are you running? It sounds like the track you go to preps very well.

Most tracks will tell you to cut it out if you drive through the water with street tires.

i trapped 98.7 the other day when it was in the lower 70's on my first run....

Yeah, but that was with a 1.92 60' and my 1/8 was 8.90. I dont thin you'll get close to that, even with drag radials or slicks. And I know the tech guy does nothing, I'm talking about the guy standing by the water box.

You gotta look at the people that have ran 13.9's in the CL-S. All have been over 100mph, from what I have read.

Well I wish ya the best, but your gonna need some mineshaft air to do that. I only lost 1mph when it was 80* & humid, compared to the previous event when it was 60* and no humidity.
