Track Day: Do I have the quickest CL-S w/ Intake only?
Went to the track again today. I got my IMRC fixed on Tuesday and boy did that make a difference. Here is my best time. My only mod is the Comptech Icebox.
R/T... .678
60'... 2.199
330... 6.166
1/8... 9.382
MPH... 76.61
1000... 12.160
1/4... 14.510
MPH... 96.49
I'm making a spread sheet in Excel of all my runs today (15-16). Is there a way to make that a picture file so I can post it?

Here's the rest of my runs.
The bold indicates the best in that category
Oh and last week my IMRC was stuck in the closed posistion. My best time was 6/10ths slower than my best time today. IMRC does ALOT!

Well done there Mr. Steve! Just as I was prepping my car to run with you my best friend called and said that he ran over an empty drywall compound bucket in his recently acquired '99 M3. He was all worried, but the only damage was a broken foglight bulb (not the lense somehow) and a light scratch. The bulb took an hour to replace and the scratch another 15 minutes, and then my free time to run was up for the day. Conditions were great as it was cold and the wind never really appeared. Your times were very low and you can be happy about a 14.51 any day. Headers would put you down into the 14. 2 or 14.3 range! You have good skills and you have a good engine too IMO. I'll make another stab at going there soon. If you want headers, it is hard to beat some used Comptechs if you can find them. About $700 is the going price. I used to have the cheapies but the resonation drove me nuts and made the car sound cheap. Now I have CT's and love 'em. Again, good results!

The track really is amazing. I got some wheel hop sometimes but basically I torque braked up around 1800-2000, let off the brake at the 3rd yellow for a second and then mashed the gas to the floor.

Yes I would expect .2 or .3, but in the quarter mile by the time you get to the end that's alot. True, it doesn't sound like it, but it is. Other helpful hints are the usual 1/8th of a tank of gas, no spare, jack etc. Notice that it took three runs for your car to adjust to your full throttle inputs, then after that it slowly climbed as the weather got warmer or other things changed slightly. But again, well done! Was it crowded?

You know the temp really didnt' change. On my 3rd run it was 49, on my 4th it was 50. After that it never went over 52. After my 6th run I shut the car off for a while and let it cool down a little. After that I hit the rev limiter on 4 different times on my 2-3 shifts. Also I switched to lane 2 a few times. Didn't have as much luck. I had a really good run going on # 14 but again hit the limiter. SMOKED a '92 Mustang GT though. He couldn't drive and only did a 15.1

Great! Then the slightly changing times could have been from the engine itself got pretty warm or the track lost just a hair of grip, but who knows. Your 60' time in that third run was incredible. In that run, everything went right, you, the car, the track and the weather. Had you gone only eleven one thousands quicker that would have made your run a 14.499, or of course, the 14.4's! Pretty good for a 5AT CL-S! Next logical step...headers.

Happy CL-S Pilot
Great times... Congrats.. now the IMRC fixed, your CLS-5AT is running good times.
As for my best times, it was only with Injen CAI and Iridium plugs on 235/40/18 Nitto 555 and I run my best 14.613@ 95.81 (see sig below).
Best 1/4 mile:
Location: New England Dragway
Date: 06/APR/02
Time: 4:13 PM
R/T 0.605
60' 2.254
330' 6.219
1/8 mile 9.450
1/8 MPH 75.80
1000' 12.255
1/4 mile 14.613
1/4 mile MPH 95.81 (after mods, I can go as high as 97 MPH)
Weight: 3626 Lb (I can now go as low as 3495 lbs)
Tire Pressure: Front/Rear: 28/36 lb
Gate Shifting @ rpms : D123/R.L.
Temp: 43F
Brake Torque rpms: 2000 rpms
Your tires with the track are gripping good!, great 60' times.
My best 60' time is 2.254s . What was the tire pressure?
I need better tires and then I should be running low 14s.

That is a great time!
It took me i/h/p to run 14.503...Then again, my 60' are all over 2.25 and I can't drag-drive for shi+!
I wish we could get some cooler weather here when the track is open so I can get some better times. This humidity sucks!!!

2.1 isn't bad for All-Season tires.
I shifted at 7100 rpm each time. I hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift about 4 times.

I had a lot of gas and all kinds of crap in the trunk. I can't drive for shi+ either. I think with some cool weather, less than 1/4 tank of gas, lowering some tire pressure and taking the crap out out of the trunk will yeild 14.2-3's maybe, but I have mods!

There is no way a bone stock CL-S will do low 14's. Unless it is like 20 degress outside, with 0% humidity, and a 50 MPH TAILWIND.
If you think you can do low 14's stock...... post your slips.

Almost 15,000 members and no one has said they were quicker than my 14.5 and that's with an intake, not stock. I think you are mistaken.
