Toyota 1 Honda 0

So those of you into F1 racing toyota got a point in their very first race ever. They built the team from scratch and got 6th place in the Australian GP. Honda failed to score a point.

BTW-something for all of you street racers to think about...Go pro, be the best, and get paid. Who is the highest paid athlete in the world? No, not Michael Jordan....its Michael Schumacher, the Ferrari F1 driver makes $85 million a year Thats like 150 Ferrari's a year, if he spent his money that way.DAMN!!!

Well to give honda a reason, for its lack of success, there was that bad wreck, that took out a lot of drivers including Ralph Schummacher, but isn't it funny how Micheal Schummacher and Juan Montoya always get through the wrecks.

Man, that tweaked BMW just pulls and pulls on the straight aways but i was a little suprised by how Schumacher was able to pass Montoya in the corner. Maybe the Ferrari has a bit more torque??? Perhapes Michael just caught Juan in bad shift or higher gear.

In the interview later, Montoya said it was the tires. Montoya's got good fast and then faded, Schummacher's got hot later and kept going. That is what happens when you have 1 tire company making only you tires Bridgestone vs everyone else on Michelins.

Probably not the correct forum, but....

Although I love auto racing, particularly F1, can you really call them athletes?? I am not pro or con on this issue, my brother and I have debated this to the end with both jumping sides, but if auto racing is a sport (indicating and athlete is involved) so is Golf, to my disagreement.

My take is if you define it: if you can take a drink while performing the duties it is not a sport but an activity.

How would you judge an athlete, poise under pressure, dedication, talent, coordination, depth perception, risk involed in game. I think F1 racers fall into this category, Schummacher's avg speed in that race 193 mph on a flat race track, you go around a track that fast and you are an athlete. Not a single person on this site has the ability to drive one of those cars. Don't believe me see how many alternate and test drivers there are. Yes it is man with machine, but even in drag racing it comes down to reaction speed. There is an art to it. Now is it a weak sport, it could be considered with the likes of golf, bowling, scuba diving. But hey can you do 18 holes under par, bowl above a 240. Football and hockey players have to worry about being hit, but racers have to worry about hitting (cars, the wall).
