Toyo's or Yoko's?

ok so the guy at discount tire thinks that a 225/45/18 tire would be better for my CL-P than a 225/40/18 ... AND DEFINITELY better than a 235/40/18.

Now the Yoko AVS db's (145 a piece ) I ordered dont come in 225/45/18, so my other option is some Michelin's ($200ish a piece) or Toyo's (which he quoted @ $140 a piece) ...

what do u guys think? about his size recommendation as well as brands?

I would get the toyos. Yokohamas are good tires, but dont last that long. I speak from experience.

I hope I can comment on this...

1. My wife's '95 Altima needs new tires -- I love the Toyos. So, why don't I put them on? Answer, they don't make them in her size!!!

2. So, now if I have to accept the next best tire that is an All Season Ultra High Performance Tire. The winner is: The Yoko AVS db -- I just got off the phone with my tire dealer and I will be putting those on my wife's car. He has been very good about knowing what people like and don't like. Until a month or two ago, he could barely keep the Yoko AVS DBs in stock. So, for my wife's 205/60-15 size, I will be getting those!!!!

3. The reason the 225/45-18 is generally better if it is NOT a Toyo is it has a better load rating. Go look for your self. If the tire is a Toyo, the 225/40-18 has a plenty good load rating and has a reinforced casing.

I'm very biased towards the Toyos! The beat the stock tire's load rating, and are great in wet, dry, and in hydroplaning performance.

Check out Speedvision -- and watch the cars running them.

AS a note -- if I could have a free trial, I would like to see the S03 tires. As a rule, the manufacturers keep coming up with better and better stuff. This doesn't mean I'm not thrilled with the Toyo's, just would like to see what a 2001 Top of the line tire would be like (more money too...)
