Towing with your 6spd CL

What is the heaviest anyone has ever towed? I am looking at abour 1250lbs. My acura rep said he thinks it is fine as long as I am conservative with acceleration and braking.

Shoud be ok. I pulled 2500lbs in a kia. Just make sure whatever hitch you get gets installed right.

towing requires three important considerations,
1. attachment to a structural component of the vehicle
2. the braking system of the vehicle needs to be supplemented to handle the additional load.
3. the transmission may need additional fluid cooling to handle addtional loads
refer to the owners manual for factory recommendations for each.
personally, i would not stress this vehicle by towing with it. Especially if it is an auto transmissison model

Class 1 hitches can tow 2000lbs and hold a tongue weight of 200lbs. As long as the trailer is loaded balanced it should be fine. I am considering doing the rotora big brake kit if I have issues with heat and warping.

The manual tranny should be more stable according to my tech. I would really like to hear from a tech on this board though.

Hmmm cheap truck for $5K or trailer and hitch for $500 and if i bought a truck there is no way i can fit 2 quads in the bed so I would still be looking at a trailer.

damn, I would never try that one. I will be barily over the limit. Once my tech realized I had the 6spd he said I would be fine. He only suggested assetive shifting to avoid clutch wear.

I picked the trailer up last night. The CL drave normal all the way up to 6th gear. At that point there was a little hint that I had more weight and wind drag. I will load it up this weekend for a test and take pics.

I tow with my auto cl-s all the time, but so far max weight has been approximately 900 lbs (550 lb bike on a 350 lb trailer).

no problems thus far and still on original transmission.

That is awesome to hear. I think as long as we are conservative with acceleration and braking we will be fine. I was shocked to learn the CL's have no real tranny cooler. My GF's 98 Volvo C70 does and can tow 2800lbs.
