Touching up body scratches and such

All, can I get touch up paint from the dealer and what is the process of touching up all of my scratches?

I have a scratch on my passenger door(3rd day i had the car) and a buddy of mine thats into body work says that if i try to touch up the door it will look really sh**ty due to the way the metal flakes in the silver paint stand up when sprayed on. When you brush on touch up they will lay down or lay the same way hence the sh**ty look.
But if you try let me know how it works out.

Use a toothpick to apply the paint. Use as little as possible.
