Totalled my Accord...

Hey, I just thought I'd post something since I actually signed up. I have been reading this forum for a week or so now and have gotten a lot of good information, thanks guys! Anyway, I totalled my 98 Accord Coupe and I'm pretty much convinced to get a Cl-S w/ navi. So as soon as I get the money from the insurance company which should be this week sometime, I'll be going out and getting one! I'll post a pic of my old Accord.. I was rear ended by a F350 truck that was going at least 45-50 mph. So it's in pretty bad shape.. anywho, look forward to posting more here in the future...
Ick.. sorry for the size btw...

-Craig

I love crumple zones. They create such cool wrecks...If I hit something in my '79 Mercedes I think it would only ding the bumper...course I'd be impaled on the steering column.

Welcome, get the nav. definitely.

Wow, that's pretty amazing that you walked away, lucky for you. 50mph, huh. Were you stopped at the time of the collision?

I would have killed the guy in the F350, but they took me away in an ambulance. Ya very lucky to walk away. I'm going through physical therapy and a lot of body work, but all in all I'm doing pretty well.

Yes I was completely stopped behind a line of cars. This guy just came barreling down the road and smashed into me. Pushed me into the car in front of me, and pushed him into the car in front of him. So a total of four cars involved. Nothing really happened to the F350, was just leaking coolant and had a piece of my car sticking out of his grill. It looked kind of cool, wish I could have gotten a picture of it. heh..

Jesus man, you're lucky to be in one piece! Maybe you can salvage that Kicker in the trunk. I think you'll be happy with the CL.

Sue the redneck mofo!
I hate those huge pickup trucks. 90% of the people with them don't use them for what they were intended (ie hauling loads of wood to a construction site, towing an aircraft carrier). Sue him so he can only afford a Civic.

Hows the base after the wreck? Those were nice Kickers!

Glad you are ok. These types of accidents just goes to show that no matter how careful you drive, and look everywhere, some fucker will run into you in his bigass truck and fuck you up. Welcome to the site and good luck with getting the CLS, it will be a nice step up from the younger sister, accord.

Here is a picture of the back seat as well as the front. As you can see, the back seat was pushed all the way to my front seat and it actually smacked me in the back of my head. I didn't bother trying to save the speakers, they were pretty well banged up (there was another one there that you can't see) Though I did salvage my amp! heh.. And I was really pissed.. I had just put some new Kumho Escta Supra's on about three months before..

Well the truck actually belongs to a landscaping company.. so I can give him that much.. heh..

That Taurus in the background! Where is that? My GFs dad has one that exact color and he was in an accident a few weeks ago!
Landscaping company?! To hell with the Acura CL! When you're through with them you can get a Mercedes CL!
I wonder if somebody in the back seat would have survived.

d00d, what is that red peice of metal in the picture of the front seats? Some peice off the back that they tucked inside the car?

Glad you're okay!

Do the airbags deploy when you get rear ended like that?

Glad to see you are ok... Somebody up above was looking out for you.

I was in a fender bender where another lady tapped the rear end of the car I was in, right as I was tilting my head back to drink a coke... well needless to say I got coke up my nose and over my face, but my neck was stiff for a week. Fortunately the lady just barely tapped us and it only crumpled one of the bumper "shock absorbers". This was on a 1980 ish Chevy Celebrity. If the other car had hit us any harder, probably would have snapped my neck in half.

I also just realized if anyone had been in the back seat, they would have gotten seriously F'd up in that accident!

Very scarey!

Welcome! After seeing those pictures, it is amazing that you did walk away. Its a good thing nobody was in the back. Yeah I agree with Scorpius, you should be able to get the Merceds CL after you're done with them. But the Acura CL is a good car too. Anyway, Good Luck with everything.

holy COW!!!! glad to see you are okay after this one . Man , that car looks bad. Good to see the cars are safe even when hit by a tank. needless to say , if someone was in the back seat they would have been hurt pretty seriously . It is a big concern with regular cars sharing the road with such big trucks, makes for very high impact zones and causes a lot of shit like this . glad to see you are okay

Man you have been blessed. Good to know that you walked away. Never let it be said that HONDA does not make a good car.

I rolled a Honda Accord and walked away without a scratch. We often bitch about what our cars do't do and almost never praise what they doo well.

there should b a rule that if u wanna drive a big truck or suv u have to take another test or something like that

scorpius that guy in the truck made a mistake and he probbly knows it and he'll live with it, that god craig was alright. i dont know bout u guys but a CL? they're around 90,000. I'd rather take a CLS, an MDX and then a convertible or sedan

How heavy is the Accord?
The guy in the truck probably didn't know how to drive it. When I take the company vans out, it takes me a bit to get used to them. Probably the same deal.
