took a modded wrx from a roll

this was like the best race i've ever had guys. i usually never post kill stories but this was a blast.

i'm sitting at a freeway entrance at a red light. my friend is behind me in his legacy sedan. a black wrx w/ red sti badging rolls up in the right lane, i can hear the raspy exhaust note as he pulls up. the car was lowered with some nice looking tuner wheels. not sure what other mods he had. anyway, i figure it's on so i turn off vsa and get ready for a green light. light goes green and we both take off slowly (you have to hang a 90 degree left hand turn to get on the freeway) until we get into the turn, then we both punched it. i grabbed 1st and was ahead of him by 1/2 a car, he started to pull a little intil i got into vtec in 2nd. we roar through the on ramp tunnel with about a 100 yards until it goes into 1 lane. i was pulling away a little bit at this point but i only had him by about a car before he had to merge behind. we got on the freeway and i could tell the driver and passenger in the subie were as thrilled as i was, grins from ear to ear. it was quite an adrenalin rush. i through out a thumbs up and he did the same. they took the next exit, likely in disbelief. i wouldn't be surprised if they figured i was spraying.

this new exhaust is definately making some mid to upper range tq and hp. it feels like more of a gain than the ur pulleys were, and more than a cai. maybe it's a combination of it all. i'm very pleased w/ my car right now.

You took out and STI?, What are you running in the quarter? Low 15's at least, right?

it was a wrx w/ red subaru technica badges. not an STI.

last time i was at the track i was running consistant 14.3x, this was in mid 70 degree temps w/ over 60% humidity. my best times have been in the 14.1's.

i haven't run yet w/ the new exhaust.

good kill. i am not making excuses but from experience =) the wrx is hard to get used to shifting. the cl was much easier to just drive than the wrx is. good kill none the less!

Did have those headers on before the exhaust? What size is the stock piping?

Good kill.

Nice Kill!

Good to know that you are putting the exhaust to use already. I got the CT Tranny Cooler, after I install that, I will start to think seriously about some kind of FI.

welcome aboard another non-cl owner that finds the greatest forum on the internet.

remember a couple of g's in mods and no cl will hang with you.
except for typeR or allmotor 2000, Scalbert, Zapata

and Titand19,

and any other supercharged cl/tl

but for the 5K it costs to get a comptech SC you could be running 12's in the WRX.

Hey, thanks guys!! I know about the all motor guy. He used to have a turbo on his car, right? The friend of mine with the CL-S knows that guy. I don't think I will ever get as fast as my friend's CL. All he ever has to do when I get faster then him is get a turbo or super charger. I think he should get a turbo since that is what he does and knows best over at Garrett Boosting.

I like the WRXs more and more. Like many have said, the WRX is a few grand away from being a monster I guess. Unfortunately for the CLS only the few who really know about blowers can work on these cars.

My friend has a bone stock wrx and we are dead even until about 80 (from a roll). They get most of their performance figues from a stop. If the wrx was hanging with you it sounds like he had some decent mods done. Good kill
