Tons of info/rumors from my dealer

Hey guys, I was just at the dealer on Sat. to get my 15k service done and wound up waiting there for a while because my gf was late picking me up, so I was chatting to this one salesman for over 30 mins trying to pump him for info. Not sure if all of this has been posted before, but I've been reading the boards and some of it was new to me. This is @ Stevens Creek Acura in San Jose
btw. The salesman seemed only reasonably knowledgeable,
but I kept asking and re-asking the same questions reworded and he seemed pretty commited to the following things:

Stuff I had heard of already:

- Confirmed the redesign of the CL in 2004, but says it probably won't be an "early" release like the 2003, so more like August
2004 is what the plan is right now. He said he had absolutely NO idea on the details for CL.
- Said that there is a "rumor" from the Acura headquarters that the TL will get the 6-speed manual tranny that the CL is getting
in the 2004 model, so in about 1 year.
- Said there's no bodykit planned for the CL in the near future, has no idea why.
- Said the 6-speed manual will be here very middle of March.

New weird shit:

- Said that the 2003 CL DOES HAVE ROADLAMPS,
but that they are in a separate section in the headlight housing.
I thought this was unlikely, but he says that's what he's been told.
- Said that the 2003 CL has a subwoofer in the trunk standard,
inside the spare tire, just like the RSX.
- Said the the TL gets a full redesign in 2004, and he says he can "guarantee" that it will be a V8, and that the price of it
will be upped to adjust the sedan line-up for:
- A BRAND NEW acura Sedan to be released in 2004, which will be
SMALLER than the TL (a whole new model). Said the TL/CL will be
designed to compete more with the 330 or the GS300 lexus, and the new small sedan will be like the IS300 or 325 competitor. He said he expects it to be RSX-esque.
- Said there is a BRAND NEW SUV coming out in either 2004 or 2005 which is smaller than the MDX and cheaper.

Let me know what you guys think of this stuff, seems like there's going to be a LOT of expansion in the lineup in 2004/2005...

They will but it won't be audi or subaru type AWD. Honda will have an AWD system like Volvo does. It only kicks in after slippage is detected.

The treatment when I bought it was AWSOME, completely no bullshit or hassle. Took 45 mins to get a great deal. As far as service, I've only done a couple routine things there and they seem friendly and on top of things enough, and they give nice loaners for warranty work. Their prices are a bit steep for other services (even oil change), but tell them you'll leave and go to Sunnyvale Acura and they'll give you a 50% discount (no kidding)...

They wanted to charge me $319 for the 15k service (wtf). So I got it broken down into components, and wound up paying $115 total... Still a bit steep, but oh well.

The salesman I was talking to is "Collin Jory". I think some of what he said IS just rumors that he heard, but for the most part it seemed pretty reliable, I already bought a car from their dealership and told him I'm not going to buy again soon, and he was still talking to me for 30 mins, so I don't think he had anything to gain.

yeah honda CRV has something like that as well. However i don't think acura would put something like that in a luxo model.

When the S2000 came out, it was stated that they plan on
making a 4 door version. Maybe that's the base for this smaller
new sedan.

Now why would they put a v8 in the TL? Havent they already stolen enough of the RL market share? Yeah the new sport ute is a Honda with 3.5L 240hp V6 from the current MDX....the new MDX is going to get a 3.8L 280hp v6. The sub for the RSX and TL suck...so who really cares. Why would you create another sedan that would eat into Accord sales..the difference is about 2-4K right now....and they are also giving the Accord a version of the j32. I think your dealer friend is just throwing out rumors. Not a flame against you...most dealers have less clue than the enthusiasts public ( ie. us)

Woah I'm really sorry, it was a typo because I was writing a lot of info. the RL is what's going to have the v8, with 300+ horsepower. The TL is going to stay v6 for a while.

I'll go edit the above post, thanks for pointing it out.
