Are TOKICO HP SHOCKS any good?
Don't know much about suspension. If I got comptech springs, I'd change out the stock shocks also. I don't need ride hight, or spring rate adjustments. Are these shocks just replacments simlar to OEM? Will these give a better ride, softer, or harsher?
Thanks

I ran a set of those for quite a few years. They are fine as a stock replacement. They should work fine with the Comptech springs if you're doing to just lower. They're a hair firmer than stock. Go with adjustables if you're looking for more performance.

This reply may be kinda late but the Comptech/Tokico Hp set up is fucking awesome... I just did my yesterday and I would never go back to stock. The ride is much smoother and the handling is even better. Hope you got them.

Suzuka Master
I had Tokico Blues & Suspension Techniques springs on my old Maxima. The struts were excellent & lasted the life of the car, pretty impressive considering how stiff the supension (especially the rear suspension) was. If you're not going to compete they should do fine.

As others have suggested, the HP's are kind of stiff. They are the equivalent of the "3" setting on the Illuminas (range 1-5). Unless you know that you like a stiff ride, I would suggest that you consider the Illuminas rather than the HP's. I had my springs/sways/shock installed only a few weeks ago and started with the Illuminas set at "2". I personally wouldn't want them any stiffer.
This weekend I just turned them down to "1" (softest) to see whether I might prefer them at that setting. I have to say that removing the rear seats to adjust the settings is a PITA, but the next time will be a lot easier. I intend to try this setting for a while before deciding whether to keep it or go back to "2".
But for me, "3" would be too stiff for the street.

I know everyone is different; therefore, they like their suspension different--- BUT I can't understand how someone can say that Tokico HP shocks are too stiff!! I firmly believe that Acura should have put the CL-S suspension on the CL-P and Comptech/Tokico HP on the Type-S. The ride quality is so great that I would never go back to stock. The HPs are NOT TOO FIRM-- THEY ARE PERFECT.
