TLS vs Mustang Shelby

Well, I lost a race . . . but I knew I probably would going in.

It was a newer Mustang Shelby. He came up fast behind me, I guess just driven that way since there was no traffic around him. We were on a 3 lane road and as we were getting close to a light we come up on a few cars, and he spots an opening to be first in line, and as he guns it past a car and I follow. There's no room for me, so I just stay behind him. As we slow down for the light I hit my turn signals indicating I want to turn right, but he isn't looking. He's actually looking at a new 335i on his left. I'm like, he's gonna blow that Bimmer away, and I want to see this. So I'm watching the light and the Shelby, and I'm doing a little powerbraking . . all ready to play along. Well the light changes, but the Shelby is a bit slow on the draw so I have to backoff, and just then he nails it. I get back into right away, but he already has about 2 car lengths on me.

Anyway, I'm topping out 1st going in to 2nd and he's still just those 2 car lengths ahead. As I top 2nd and hit 3rd, he pulls on me, but just a lit bit. As I run 3rd out he's not pulling any more and we're approaching 100MPH, well, okay, we were just a bit past that.

Note, we had 3 clear lanes so we were cool . . and safe.

Well we had to let off as we were coming up on a light and since there was too much traffic ahead I turned, heading back to my original destination.

I'd still like to know what he was thinking seeing that strange white car hanging around back there. I'm also sure he wasn't the best driver seeing how poorly he launched it. I would have loved to seen the outcome with the headers on, or even at the track. I'm sure I would have killed him off the line and made it a really close race at the end.

Nah . . . must be a money driver . . . never even came off the line . . I bet who ever they were, they just thought we were a bunch of . . . . well, you know

I do hope to catch a 335i and see just how fast they are.

The i and ci are both TT IIRC? I saw a ci gun it on the highway, looked pretty damn fast. Of course, I have never seen my CLs from outside the car, so I don't know how fast it looks gunning it...I am sure sooner or later (if not already) engine management upgrades, larger TT and IC, etc. will happen and 335's will start running 12's and under.

my friend has one (335) and sorry guys we (acura) are no compitition for him. modded or not that 335 has sooooo much f-ing torque. it would blow us off the line. he says that on his boards the 335 hangs with the m3 off the line, but eventually loses.

well, I guess it's a good thing I'm getting some headers, and a couple of tweaks cause it sounds like I'll need it. I got a long winning streak verses the 3series, including the previous gen M3. I hate to blow it, but I understand all good things must come to an end. That is unless I want to take it to another level.

I only time I lost to any old 3 series is when this E##? (240hp) M3 coupe, maybe 98 was in front of me at this light on a state highway here near boulder. He dropped it at like 5k off the line and never looked back to 100+. Me being an AT and just casually driving, by the time I saw him launch and I hit 5k in first gear, he was pulling thru the top of 2nd gear, not exactly a race. Maybe if we were next to eachother and he only did a 2.5k drop...
