TLS v. IS300
last night had a run in /w a white IS300. gettin on the highway i slowly pass the IS thinkin nuttin of it.. next thing i look in my rear and see him on my azz... ok les go!! there was some traffic so we start movin in and out of traffic.. it opened up a lil and he actually passed me.. wtf?!? there was more traffic so we slowed.. soon it opened up and i was right in 3rd ~70-75mph im guessin.. he gets a jump on me.. then i slowly started comin back.. all thru 3rd.. up to ~115 we're dead even... then i shift into 4th and it felt like the brakes came on ugh.. anyways we both slow and i give him the thumbs up... now ive raced an IS before and beat him pretty easily... when he passed me from behind i was like whoa.. he must have something underneath.. looked stock except for a very clean, non-rice exhaust. couldnt hear a turbo.. maybe super??? or would a stock IS be able to do this?? i highly doubt it... any opinions guys?

They only have 215hp, and 1/4 mile time of 15.4 seconds so maybe he had a supercharger or every bolt on you can buy for it. Wacht out for the 2006 models, they will come with an optional 300hp engine which should be sweet.

Some of those IS's can be sneaky bastards.
Back in the day when I had my CRX (all motor 13.7 @ 102mph), I raced one on the highway from 60-120 and he stayed with me side by side the whole way. He also claimed he was stock - yeah right! He sounded stock, but he surely had something up his sleeve!

Careful guys alot of IS are running with ecu intake and exhaust and will make you look like a fool if you are caught off guard. Those cars are rediculously restricted
from the factory and it really wakes the car up. As of yet I don't recall any supercharged is300's but if it was turbo'ed you would have seen nothing but taillights cause there kits are no joke and with your mods it would have gotten ugly real quick.

The IS300 has unlimited modding abilities they can look stock from the outside and have beast of TT underneath the hood.

Yeah I have seen and heard some real impressive number from IS300 owners with the HKS turbo kit 400-450hp easy and I have also personally seen an IS300 hand a Z06 it's azz on the highway (turbo of course) the car is a great platform, don't forget that the platform has been around for some time and in japan it's known as the Alteeza so it already has a modding base set in place, just be lucky the US got the watered down version from the factory and not the 280hp version they get overseas, well in 06 we will get the 300hp option but they have had that 280 version for years.

Okay guys to clarify things, the IS300's come with 2jz-GE's and the tt supras come with 2JZ-GTE's which are twin turbo. The difference is drastic, the pistons, rods, oil system, head is different. The non turbo versions have have a good amount of power with a supercharger or turbo but the compression is too high so they need a thick headgasket or to replace pistons. But all in all the CL's are faster, unless you swap the motor and actually put the 2jz-gte in the IS...

an is stock is very slow. lightly modded = still slow. if there is any heavy work such as a swap, nos, turbo, sc= your going to lose! (this is all assuming you are an NA TypeS)

if an IS stock is slow, then so is our cars...we run consistent 14.8-15.2's stock. The IS runs pretty much the same, just a bit slower. I don't understand why everyone thinks they're so slow. Unless I'm hearing wrong information from people about IS300's times

yeah, i would think with all the mods you have, a freeway run with an is300 would leave it way in the back. you have i/h/e correct? assuming the is was stock, i'd say you shoulda had at least 2 cars on it by the top of 3rd. i raced one from a dig a couple days back...i had like 2 cars on him by 70..let off for a bit and floored ita gain...walked it by a car up to 90. im assuming that one was stock cuz all i have is aem cai.

I thought on 3rd, TL-S caps out at around 100 mph.
I know mind did.
TL-S or CL-S (auto) is pretty fast up to 100 mph or end of 3rd gear but once it goes to 4th, its a turtle.
It seemd like TL-S or CL-S (auto) has 2 Over Drives.
