TL-P/CL-P Icebox Help...

I've got a 1999 TL-P and am trying to complete the installation. My problem is that I can't get the Icebox lid to fit to the lower Icebox. The front of the lid hits the back of the HID cover. All of the lower mounting bolts and brackets fit as expected.

What am I missing? Anyone that's installed one have advice?

I thought that was gonna be a problem, but just make sure that the triangle you mount the box to is slanted toward the rear of the car. It doesn't hang straight down. That will make the box attach a little more toward the rear, and should give you enough room.

I've double checked and the triangle is mounted toward the rear. Does the bottom of the icebox sit directly on the chasis? You don't use the spacer that held the stock intake box do you? I've got the bottom bolt goinhg through the floor of the icebox into the chasis with nothing between.

This really has me puzzled.

Don't the instructions say something about triming back the plastic shroud around the grill to fit the top of the IceBox? http://www.comptechusa.com/instructions/ins089.pdf

that is weird. If the screw hole in the front of the box matches the one in the car it should all be in the right spot.

Y2K3CL-S, Yes you do have to trim a corner off the plastic piece.

Danny,

That's what I was thinking. The bottom only fits in one way properly. I'm going to shoot some pictures of my install and call Comptech in the morning. Removing the cover off of the HID ballast does not seem like a realistic solution but it's the most obvious at this point.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts.

Jeff

Confirmed with Comptech this morning that there are fitment problems with the 1999 TL. Once they find a 1999 TL to play with, they'll come up with a solution. If they don't come up with a 1999 within a couple of weeks, I may take a trip up to visit Comptech and use mine.

That's what I like about working with a reputable company. You have no fear about buying their products because you know that they will make it right.
