Tirerack.com

Tirerack.com has to get some better IT people in there... every other link is broken.

I'm at about 5,000 miles on my CL-S. How long should stock tires last?
Also, when it comes time for new tires, I'm probably going Michelin.
The best sellers for the CL-S are the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4. Are these any good? I'm in Eastern PA, so we do get snow. I'm looking for something all season, and I want it to be the exact same size as stock. I don't like having a tire that is not the right size.
What do you think?
Here is a list of all the tires Tirerack says will fit the CL-S (High Performance All season):
BFGoodrich Comp T/A HR4
Bridgestone Potenza RE950
Bridgestone Potenza RE930
Bridgestone Potenza RE92
Dunlop D60A2 JLB
Firestone Firehawk SH30 (NO WAY!)
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
Goodyear Eagle GT+4
Michelin Pilot XGT H4
Pirelli P600 M&S
Sumitomo HTR 4
Yokohama Avid H4 / V4

I wouldn't mind having Goodyear on there.
Forget Firestone.

Dude!!! Maybe you should look at your tires before asking questions. The MXM4s are what your riding on NOW. At 19K+ miles, I hate them. They're gone. I was all over the road yesterday in the rain. I'll be going with the Bridgestone RE730s in 225/45/17 and will order them this week.

Stay away from anything labeled a "touring tire." If you drive your car remotely close to how I do mine, you'll need a high-performance tire with a stiff sidewall.

Yea I was looking into those Bridgestone Potenzas RE730s too.. they got really high ratings on their survey and that was from people who have driven those wheels for over a million miles. Tell me how you like them after you get them. Thanks

I've got 22K on my original tires, and they show hardly any wear. My driving has been mostly interstate.

Absolutely. And thew blow I'm not sure about the new ones that you guys are talking about, but the only summer season tires blew! If I got on it real hard going to 2nd, the tires would break loose and put me towards the curb. I upgraded to the Nitto NT555's and I couldn't make those tires let go. But if you are just looking for some good all season tires, and not performance, then go with them I guess.

I have almost 29K miles on my car and the tires show very little wear at all. I have driven in some very heavy rain storms in my area and have had zero problems with hydroplaning. Of course under adverse conditions you must drive sensibly.

I like the Nitto Extreme Performance 555's, those suckers stick like glue. They have a 225/40/17 for like $125.00 @ tires.com.

Dunlop SP Sport 5000 is a very nice tire and is available in the CLS size. Tire rack has them in stock. Has anyone tried that tire? It's listed by Tire rack as ultra high performance all-season and has impressive test numbers. Silver CLS on LI.

Dunlop... I'll check them out. How long do stock tires last? What is a good place to get tires replaced? NTB? I'll probably go to the dealer. Will they put on whatever tires I want?
