tire valve cap problem

tire valve cap problem

hi

my tire valve caps seem to be stuck....can't get them off even after spraying some lub around them

any advice before i take it to the shop?

btw i have bridgestone 235/45/17 tires on stock rim and the valve cap is a shiny plastic decoration type from pep boys

can't you use long nose pliers for the base and a ratchet for the cap? i had one stuck a couple of days ago....used both of these and it came of. i was kinda worried i'd ruin the valve stem but so far it's okay.

Don't forget to tip the mechanic who pulls them off for you. $5 might work.

I wish I had that problem. Then maybe the punk ass kids in my area would stop stealing mine!

A wrench of some kind should get them off. You can spray some cold water on them first.

Bro,
I had the same problem a while back. I had blue valve caps from pep boys too, and they got stuck (in the future spray WD40 or something inside BEFORE you put them on. They are cheap material and tend to corode on the inside. Anyway, there was NO getting them off so i had to use a circular saw (Drimmel) to cut them, BUT if you do this BE CAREFUL not to cut too far - on one i did and cut into the valve stem and had to replace it.
