OK. I am getting Tinting Done on my Silver CLS. I want to know what you guys think is a better grade of tint for All Windows. I am going to do the Front and Back. Thanks. Jon

I'm going with 10% all around but I live in Arizona so legall you can do anything on the backs and 30% on the front. RIght now I have 30-20.
Being in NJ go with 35-20 it will still look good and you won't get too much shit from cops. My friend had I think 35 all around in NYC and he would get some shit sometimes.

Since ANY tint is illegal in NJ like it is in PA, I would recommend what I did.
35% on the (4) Side windows
20% on the rear Rear
Still illegal, but less likely to get you pulled over.

Anyone ever have issues when getting tinting done that hte Rear Defroster Doesn't work? I am worried. My 99 Maxima had the tinting done and the guy sliced the wires on the window. Being the Navi, Radio, and Rear Defroster are all there I am nervous to get mine done. Also how many people here have been pulled over due to tint ?

The NAVI antenna isn’t “IN” the glass, it’s under the rear parcel shelf.
A good tint place will cut the film on the OUTSIDE of the car and shouldn’t be anywhere near the inside window with a knife.
I never had a problem with the defroster and tint.
From what I’ve experienced, the window is LESS likely to fog when tinted anyway.
Make sure you go non-metallic so you don’t effect the NAVI and rear RADAR detection capabilities.

Go 15% all the way around....that way you can still pick your nose and know one will know it is you....lol.. see a cop... hit the button and bring them down... get pulled over for speeding or something. BRING THE WINDOWS DOWN.... The only reason why cops hate window tint is because a few years back a policeman pulled a car over for speeding and then went up to the window and the guy cracked the window and shot the shit out of the cop and killed him.... the shooter called in and claimed his car was stolen after the fact... they never caught the guy... If you want more i will do the research and get the newspaper articles for you... Besides, window tint makes them think that you have something to hide. Sorry for going off on a tangen, but it might help..

I did 35% sides, 20% rear.
Going darker in rear lets less light into the car, but 35% on the sides still allows peeps to see in.
It lessens chance of being pulled over... yet, I've already had to bounce and hide on a cop once when he did a U-Turn after seeing my tint.
But... nonetheless... if I had to do it again id go 20-25% on the sides.

I would recommend not to mess with different % on different windows, it looks sorta silly. Just go with 15-20 all around, except the front window of course, and take your chances with the cops because in reality, no tint on the front two windows is legal.

I highly agree with the BIGPIMP..... Just bring them windows down when you see that trooper or get pulled over.... You can always set them up with a relay switch so when you put them down all the way you can't get them up till you push something else like the power mirror switch... So the cop can't give you a ticket if your window is broke and in the down position...ROFLOL... That a good trick.... put that in the books boys....

Ok, So your helping me with my decision, and I appreciate it. So which will look better on the Silver? Go 20% all the way or do the 20% in the back and 35% on the Sides. ALSO BIG QUESTION, The black bubbles towards the top of the Rear Window, I remember hearing problems with Tint sticking on it, DO I HAVE THEM TINT BELOW IT, or TINT OVER IT.
Thanks

I had my car tinted yesterday with 18% on all the windows. I am very happy with the job they did and they way the car looks now. Nice and dark but I can still see well at night.

As far as the rolling down the windows thing. Correct me if i'm wrong but in NY you can't even have 50% on the back windows & windshield. So rolling down the 2 front windows won't help cause they will notice the back ones.

I guess the hardest thing will be picking the tint level, but I think I'm gonna go 35 all around. Next question is, What is the best manufacturer of tint? Want to find a good grade.
THanks Guys.

For those of you that have 20 al around...is it hard to see at night...can you see what kind of cars are behind you..like cops or is it so dark you can only make out headlights...what about the ones with the tinted side view mirros...can you see well out of them with 20 on the sides??
I have used Lumanar (sp) in the past and never had a problem with them.
