Tinting a Black on Black CL

I have a Black on Black 01 CL and I'm just curious what the other Black CL owners have done with their windows. I live in California so I know my state laws are a bit different from some of the other guys here, but I was thinking of doing something like 35% in rear window and small side windows and 50% or 70% in the front side windows. I'm going to leave the windshield untouched because I don't want any problems from cops. The person who I am going to hire to do my tinting has made me aware of several tinting options, for example I can get semi metallic, scratch resistant, etc. I was leaning more to something semi-metallic, but I wanted to get some input from you guys to see what you think I should on my Black CL

Thanks!

tinting on black on black cl !!!!

get 35% scratch resistant all around they will look really good. Plus its easier to see with 35% when driving at night unlike 20% is tough to see at night....

What a pansy I just got my truck tinted... i put 5% all around and an extra layer of 35% on the front 2 windows to get it to match the back (already came tinted from dealer). It comes to about 2% all around.... I LOVE it

You mean black on black like you have black interior?

I have black with beige interior and tint looks great on a black CL IMO.

I thought you could not tint the front windows in Cali.

I picked my CL up in Cali and the previous owner tinted the back windows but not the front two. I did not change it because I like to be seen

I have 15% on the sides and 8% on the rear window. I like to go a step darker on the rear because from the front and sides it gives the side windows a darker look because the majority of light comes through the rear.

You can’t argue the fact that DARKER tint looks great, but you have to balance the safety of night driving/maneuvering and the tolerance of your local cops when making the decision.
I would love to go 20% on my sides, but I’m already pushing the law with my illegal 35% that’s installed.
I would NEVER go darker then 20% on the sides for a car that I need to drive at night.

Marc….You’re crazy. I gotta see this truck when the Philly meets start back up in the springtime.

when I think about it, I think i'm 12-15 on the rear and 20 or so on the sides. Don't remember.

not always true, if you get 50-70% on the front side windows it wont be so noticable whebn compared to your darker rear windows...

Thats what the guy told me.... i don't think it looks THAT dark, but its pretty damn dark. forget about seein through the windows though. IMO darker just looks better. if your gonna put tint on and have it be illegal whether its 35% or 1%, you might as well go for the gold. not to bad drivin, sometimes it gets hard to see, if i have a problem though i just roll down the window a bit. but 90% of the time its no problem.

Shawn id like to make a meet sometime next year. truck is stock except for tint.... hopefully when we have a meet in spring time ill have that bitch on some 23's

20% in South Florida is almost a most, especially if you have a black interior.

I do think it is a hassle driving at night-time. The ones I got on my anthracite do look awesome though, should look even better on a black exterior.

Not really sure on the laws in PA, I don't think you are supposed to tint the front windows at all, but i went with 35% all the way, mixed with the black interior it looks darker anyway. Plus if you have a nice car, why not let them see who is inside? The car will get the girls attention, but then they want to know who is driving.
