Timing belt auto tensioner on 2003 CLs
My (Canadian) 2003 CL Type S (Blue/Ebony/non-nav) was souding like a deisel and idling rough, so I took the car to Camco Acura in Ottawa for check. Camco has a bad rep in this town, and I had a couple of horror stories with them when I had my '99 TL.
Well, it was the timing belt auto tensioner. My car was not included in the recall campaign, so even the "redesigned" tensioners have problems. Fortunately, Camco had one in stock. They installed it under warranty AND actually managed to complete all the minor work I asked them to (alignment, oil change, removing some foam sticking up between the windshield and the dash). Could it be Camco is improving?
Cripes! What a difference. It's like driving a new car. Much smoother starting, smoother idle, and quiet! I shouldn't have waited so long.
