Time to sell my CLS

Hi everyone, well its time to sell my 2001 CLS. I love this car but its just too much while im in school. Just to give alittle summary, i did I/H/E and just had the tranny, timing belt, and water pump done at 100k. Right now the cars at 111k. I was going to trade it in at the dealer but they were ridiculous. They offered me $5k for the car and I was in disbelief. I know its worth more if i just sell it on my own so, thats what I'm going to do. If anyone is wonder why I've been on this forum for so long and not posted, the answer is: Search works wonders, no need to post when you can find the answers.

Well, the question is, how much do you guys think I can sell the car for? The exterior is in good condition with just minor rock chips and interior is perfect. What do you guys think?

I think
Post some pics and we will be happy to give our opinion, what color and all other options, navi or non navi. Once we know more we can give you a better idea cause as of right now the 5k sounds good!

Sorry I forgot to mention what it has. Its SSM and has navi. I dont have any pictures yet that I can put up but I'll try and take some tomorrow or something. By the way, born in 1988, yea I know I'm young. The intake is Comptech, as well as the exhaust. The headers are XS. I threw the 03 headlights and grill surround on it as well. I think I might just part the car out and sell it stock. What's everyone's opinion? Thanks in advance.

im not sure what your intensions are but modded cars unless heavly modded and in a certain market usually go for less than a stock model dont ask me why but last year when i sold my intrigue gls with custom fab. sound system i had to go a 1000 under blue book just to sell the damn thing. if you want to sell your mods i know a lot of people would be interested but if you do decide to part out your car i would be interested in the intake and exhaust but again thats just my

oh and you should be about to get at least 9k stock its a bit high on miles but its a very nice car and if its in pretty near mint condition you sould get a lot more than dealer and you could potentially add 1000 if you part out

Alright, well I'm definitely going to part it out and as soon as I get everything out and ready to sell, I'll post it up in the black market. I'll just sell it stock. KBB is like $10,500 so I think I'll work from there. Thanks everyone.

Kbb is all well and good, but its really a rough estimate of the car's value. If you want market value, do a search on AutoTrader.Com or Craigslist.Org and see what comparably equipped or other stock CLs are going for. Good luck with the sale! Where are you located?

I've been looking around for a new(er) car. One dealer here in my town (B'ham, AL) is willing to give me 9K trade-in value for my '01 CL-S that has 118K miles on it.

I'm going this eve to check out a 2005 C55 AMG Benz that he just got in. I can't wait to see it. It looks sweet from all the pics I've seen and only has 18K miles on it. Wish me luck

If there is a CarMax in your area, sell the car to them. Take you dough and run with it.

I have sold two cars to CarMax with great results.

Starting with an asking price of 10.5K should be fine...

Thanks for your help guys. I'm in the Boston area and I checked out the market. Most CLS are selling for like 12k with 80k miles on them. I think if i start it at 10,500 it should be fine. Thanks again and I'll let everyone know when the parts are ready to go.

Well, as of right now, I'm not sure what I want. I'm thinking about something that I can slowly build up. It also needs to be cheap with insurance. Being a young driver in MA is pretty expensive, especially when you drive Acura. I was thinking about going with a 97-02 Grand Prix GTP or a Fox body style mustang. Yea its a pretty big change but I love working on my own stuff and parts for those are pretty cheap. I'm leaning more towards the GTP but I'm not sure yet. It's all still up in the air. I sure am going to miss my CL.
