ticking noise when car is in Drive

I noticed that my car is creaking and ocasionally pinfs a little whenever I am on parking lot with my foot on brake and car is in D position. Should I move it back to P, this ticking noise disapears.
The noise is not loud, and only noticable with open windows. Should I be concerned, or this is normal ? Anybody noticed the same in their cars?

NOTE: The creaking and ocasional pinging happens when car is in D, when I put it back in Park, the noise is gone.

I had a ticking noise from the front of my car and the dealer said it was an emmison control canister

i m not sure what it is but i have the same noise when i move into D and sometimes R from P but mine is more of a rattle or vibration coming from what sounds likke the rear. i just havent had someone jump in the drivers seat while i investigate it.

Yes, the noise only happens while in gear (D or R) and foot on brake. It is similar to the sound you hear when its cold outside and your car is cooling after long drive ( sometimes it ticks or creaks like, or like a hot mettal cooling off making noises).
I'd try mentioning it to the dealer, but I can already imagine "Could not reproduce". oh well, i'll try.

It could be your belt tensioner , I had a ticking noise, the dealer found that it was the belt tensioner. I dont have that noise anymore.

I think you are confusing my problem with a common problem when our cars are constantly ticking while ideling in Park. My noise only starts when it's in gear (D or R), when I put it back in P, the noise is gone.

Is that the problem you were having?
