Ticket Please Pt.II
Well my Az friends it was a cold day in hell here, on 6/27/08! I am sorry to say yes part two of the ticket marathon is taking place again!
I got my fourth ticket for speeding in the CLS
I dont know what the hell I am gonna do now, I used whats called a PJC, for my last ticket and basically pardoned me on my last ticket, but it its gonna hit me on this one
My insurance is gonna shoot through the roof or even, I might have to sell the CLS
Anyone have any run ins with tickets lately or want to share their pain of gettin your tickets in the past do so now, cause I dont think I am the only one plz, to help me get through this stressful situation at this time. I went about a yr w/o one, and sure enough, like a sittin duck i got taken again in the CLS wooooo hoooooo!

man ive had 11 tickets in my lifetime... 10 of those were in my jeep when i was 18 so I learned the hard, and the dumb way.
Have had my CL for over a year and a half and have not had one cop pull me over yet... much of it is just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I can completely understand the need for speed in the CL... I gotta gas it at least once every time i get in

Agreed on learning the hard and dumb way. I have had only 5 tickets in my lifetime I think (not counting parking). The worst is Wisconsin - staties every few miles on the highway. Got two $250 tickets on two consecutive drives through WI.
Personally, I don't really speed that much anymore (being lowered kind of influences that esp. in the city). I only really put the hammer down when I am quite sure there is minimal cop presence (and have the radar detector volume maxed out).
And about Laser - unless you have a jammer once you're tagged thats it. However, I have heard that if you slam on the brakes and change lanes the laser has a hard time locking on and they can't get a reading accurate enough to ticket you based on it. However, this might be old tech I am speaking of, and new guns might be better. Anyone else have input on this theory?

didn't you just answer your own question before you even posed the question?
laser is operated by an officer trained to do it. there's only a handful here, and yes, once you're tagged, they have your speed. can't run away from a beam of light, eh

Is it that hard to obey the law? Slow down!
And you're an IDIOT for letting a LEO search your car. I have been asked the question several times in the past, my firm and polite answer is, "No officer, you may not search my car." What if you or your friend "forgot" you had "something" in your car. You're screwed.
Knowing your rights and limits will keep you out of trouble.

If you know your car is clean, you already have the ticket in hand and he ASKS to search, the answer should always be NO. You have nothing to lose, you already have the ticket and you have nothing in the car. If you did, he would have used the K9 and would not need to ASK.
If I got pulled over and ticketed at the speed I was going (as opposed to catching a break) w/o my 9500i going off, once I have the ticket in hand I am going to ask to see the gun. Especially if I am flowing with traffic as opposed to flossing thru it.
If they refuse or didn't use a gun, you can bet I am taking a day off to attend court. Too bad you admitted how fast you were going - can't take it to court if you have admitted it. If an officer asks how fast you were going and you answer then you have just waived your 5th amendment right to not self incrementation.
Un-marked car / Undercover cop w/o radar - sounds like you are screwed even if you were using the best radar detector / jammer combo with a lead car out in front (a.k.a. a rabbit).

So ur sayin I have no case in court, just cause I admitted to goin 79 or 80? He wrote it for 85. I am still gonna proceed to get a lawyer, and see what I can do from here, only time will tell
And the reason I let the officer search my vehicle is because I heard u need to comply with the officer and do as he says and sometimes, but not always u get a break, and also knowin that my car was clean I had no prob with it.

Still go to court; the officer may not show up and thus the state has no way of laying the ground work (i.e. verification of the document by a witness) to introduce the ticket into evidence and in that case you should have the case bounced for lack of evidence. Of course the judge could always reschedule the case but that isn't likely for a speeding ticket. If they do, immediately challenge saying it violates your right to a speedy trial and that the state set this date!
Also, you might try and speak to the Court Referral Officer before court. Talk to them and see if there is a 2 day driving program or something special you can attend to keep your license. Explain to them that you need your car for work and losing it would cause a hardship on your family and you are very very sorry and you won't ever speed again, blah blah blah. Maybe you can get them to speak up in court for you. Down here in Alabama the CRO sees the judge all of the time and the judge will listen to them 90% of the time.
That being said you have went from trying to say that you were not speeding to now having to debate 79/80 vs 85. Unless these 5/6 miles put you into a bigger ticket points wise, I would say this argument isn't worth time. The judge would be like 79 is still speeding and has the same fines (most likely, depends on your jurisdiction).
One other thing you might check is the law for interstate tickets. Here in Alabama we have a law that says your town must have 20,000 people in it for you to write tickets on the interstate. So if this was a local boy (as opposed to a state trooper) you might can get it bounced. This is why sheriff's in Alabama give warnings on the interstate to most cars - except those out of stater's who don't know and will pay the ticket anyway
