Thoughts on long-term affects of mods (I/H/E/myserty mod) on Type S trannies??
Anyone out there w/ over 30K on the ODO that's had I/H/E for more than 25K miles??
From what I hear, these transmissions aren't as durable as they should be .. but then again, the tranny failures may be very case specific. any thoughts?

I believe the current round of tranny problems is not as wide spread, as some "bashers" would have people believe.
But, NO-ONE, will give out the power where the tranny WILL explode.
This is interesting, since cars like the WRX (and others) have some rally, hi-perf. history that goes with them, and the people developing the "goodies" have not been "shy" about revealing at just what point you can count on things getting dicey with the transmission. (I remember reading an article in one of the mags – they were adding “beefier” gears to their “project” car and gave out the power figures, etc)
For your information, I tried to ask various people (tech and auto people) this question, and they have not been willing to comment. My e-mails are NEVER returned (others are).
My Opinion... --> if someone with mods didn't torque brake, and bang the sh*t out of the car (I'm talking "smooth" driving style), it might be possible that a car with I/H/E etc would probably last longer than a stock car that has constant D1->D2->D3 runs with lead foot starts...
