To those who have headers, what to do with stock manifold?

Hey folks,

I keep going back and forth about getting the Comptech headers for my Type S. I'd like to keep the stock exhaust manifold, but I was wondering how practical that would be. Is it really bulky? Is it possible/feasible to put it back on if I wanted to? Or did yall just chuck it?

Thanks,

e harmon

Mine have been sitting in a tool shed for months. I've been thinking of throwing them out since I probably won't sell this car anytime soon. If you're going to sell your car and would like to recoup the cost of the headers then keep them and put the oem headers back on when you sell the car. It would easy to find a buyer for used comptech headers.

I always keep the stock pieces. You can either put them back on and sell the aftermarket stuff or give them to the new owner. Aftermarket pieces will not normally add to the price you will get for the car, unless you happen to sell it to someone that wants those items. Trade in won't usually be affected.

Depending on the car and buyer, unmodified cars are usually easier to sell. If you were in the market for a used car, would you buy the one with the headers knowing it had probably been driven hard or the one that was kept stock? I know it isn't always an indication of how the car has been driven or maintained, but it is what I have experienced.

The doctor would buy the stock car from the grandma, but some grandmas don't like taking care of their car. The doctor also keeps his original parts... If a "friend" can't be found that knows the good doctor's car care habits, then old parts can and will be returned/replaced. The doctor can then hire one of his older actors to sell the stock car (complete the stereotype).

The Dr. will mention how nasty used car dealers are very good at making rat infested cars look good by appealing to our mythic car legends (An old grandmother drove this baby for 10 years heh.. heh.. heh)

The doctor has checked with the dealers and the original "headers" will fit in the trunk. Bring some trash bags to put the old stuff in.

The only reason I'm keeping them is in the event I sell the car and buy another acura that these heaaders will fit. Doubt either of these things will happen, but you never know! Also, if I sold it I would consider taking them off and seeling them.

If you did sell the car, nobody would ever know that you had aftermarket headers on the car.

I actually gave my headers away to AC cause he wanted all stock parts back on his car.
