Thinking of getting a CL

I am debating in selling my motorcycle and buying a CL. I have a 07 TL-S and love it but i want another car and the CL is one of my top choices. What should i be aware of as i start my shopping. Any common issues that i need to be aware of?

Buy a 6 speed or find another car - the auto is the achilles heel of the CL's and TL's of earlier generations.

Get a 6 speed unless u feel like rebuilding a auto..
The auto trans last a average of 50K miles!

Honestly, if you already have an 07 TL-S, i would go for a sportier car. Maybe a RWD....S2000, 370Z?

I second the notion that all of the auto trannies arent bad at all. And if your looking for a CL, and want it fully modded already, send me a PM, we can discuss some options, as I am thinking of selling my baby!

Looking for a CL?

Get a 6 speed or run away, run away fast.

Thanks for the input. Im looking to spend no more than 10-11K on the car with cash. S2000 will not work since I am over 6 feet tall and dont want to crawl in an out of a small car. I know i want a stick and i am debating between the CL/the 04-05 accord or a audi a6 2.7t. I have always liked acura so the CL is at the top. Speed is not a huge factor, if it eas i would not be selling the bike for a cage i just want comfort. I will keep you guys abreast of what i find.

Watch for the tranny on the auto's. If you do decide to get a auto def ask if the tranny's been replaced. Other than that the CL is a great car.

as long as you get the '03 manual, there are no common issues

Buy a CL that allready has a bad tranny for cheap then get it rebuilt a reputable place that will give you a full warrenty on it!
I saw a few CL's w/bad trannies going for 2-3K so 3 K plus anouther 3K to rebuild the tranny!

CLS-A I bet u $100 that is not the original tranny!

I like the accord coupe but they are not as rare as a nice CL. However if I cant find the CL that i want the Audi A6 2.7t is next on the list and then the accord

I like the new Accord coupe as well, but that gap between the hood and bumper (and the exposed weatherstripping) kills it for me.

And you want to sell the bike? For another car? WTF is wrong with you

If you go with the Audi 2.7T check to find out what year exactly they went to a larger oil inlet hose on the turbos. I wanna say it was 2001.5 or 2002 before they fixed the prob. I know the 2001 S4's with the same 2.7T had a problem with feeding the turbo's with oil.

Just something to look into.

And I would also stay away from the auto CLS. Im on the second tranny wich went in at 65K miles or so. Im at 84K and it seems to be shifting a little funny again. Could be all in my head though, just has not felt right latley.

If you're looking for a sweet one, PM me and I'll sell you mine for $14,000, with only 82k on the chassis, and 14,000 miles on the motor, and not even a thousand on the clutch/flywheel.

$18k!!! You got gang raped by group of inmates for that price. I thought I paid too much ($14.2).

Check out KBB. The 03 CL-S6s should not be expensive. I wouldnt pay a dime over $12k for one today.

If that!

+1 for the 6spd as an all around good car. You should be able to find one for 11 or 12 top end. Shit snag one with a few over 100K (it'll last another 100) at a steal price and tweak it out.

Lol yeah.... Whenever someone asked me how much I am paying for it, I usually just laugh, lol.... I went to this rip off dealership which signed me up for this rip off Bank. The lady that sold me the car told me she quit because they kept trying to rip off customers. If anyone is in Baltimore, never go to Liberty Ford. I should have went to Acura but they didn't have what I wanted at the time.

Well, I keep saying it, but I'll repeat it....NOT ALL CL AUTO TRANSMISSIONS ARE BAD OR DOOMED TO FAILURE! If you have a CL with an auto trans with over 50k miles on it, take it to your dealer and have them check it out. Same at 100k. Mine is still running as good as new at 135k miles, but I still will have it checked out again at 150k...IF I haven't sold it by then. And, btw, mine is for sale at "Black Market", but not because of the transmission!

So u have the oil jet where the ATF filler bolt is?

Bye the way i would not belive anything the DLR tells you.. # diff dealers I called and about 9 techs told me that there was NO SERVICABLE ATF FILTER and they swore up and down it was internal, untill I gave them the Part #..
And this was last year after they replaced hundreds of these transmissions so u can keep beliving what the DLR tells you but trust me I work at a DLR you get more truth out of a crack addict..

Not saying this to start or nuttin, but make sure you have a OIL-Jet where the ATF bolt is , if you dont know how it looks i will post a pic, cuz if it is the original it will have one and no filler bolt!

most ppl that are complaining about the cl auto tranny have the 01 cl. I have spoken to alot of ppl with the 03 cls-auto and they have driven it long and hard.
